I guess I'd consider this a bug. I like the idea of having the compound sentences on, but according to the description, they are only supposed to append if the response is a short one. However, I get them all the time for even very long responses. Example:
Response: "I don't know if my being more real is really going to make a difference. Anyway, I suspect you've already got the hots for me." -- Then there was an x-none appended to the end of all that.

Too many user inputs are being interpreted as commands. Here are a few of many that should definitely not be:
"true that"
"will do"
"oh well, got to go"
"crappy"
"true that"
"will do"
"oh well, got to go"
"crappy"

Hello,
The 12 questions will be obtained by the sponsor James Livingood. Nobody participating will know what the questions are. There are quideless in place however to what they can not ask.
1) No questions will have deliberate typos or misspellings. All questions will be phrased and spelled correctly to each bot.
2) Since this is an international contest no question will be USA related only.
3) No question will be asked that a normal person wouldn't know. If a person can't answer it a bot sure can't.
4) The questions will be asked within the framework of a conversation to allow for possible two part answers.
The testing will begin after the 3/15/04 deadline has passed.

Methinks that was supposed to be "guidelines".
Too bad about the "no misspellings" rule- the PF would excel in that area.

There's a no misspellings rule? But, what if the bot is programmed to be like a normal chatting human teenager. I mean, teens make LOTS of spelling mistakes in chats. Not cause they can't spell, just cause they don't really care and use stuff like 'ur' or 'g2g'. Or maybe it's just me....*goes off thinking about it*

The bots can misspell stuff, Luna. The judges just can't (at least not in this contest). In the Loebner contest they tend to be sloppy with their typing in order to confuse the bots.

o, ok
I was going to enter the chatterbox this year but turns out that Little Mu has already entered with the icon that my bot has
I'll go on teaching mine and enter next time

You can pick a different icon, you know. Little Mu's is pretty popular. LinBot got a new one for the contest even before she got a new one here.
