I wondered if you might, with his response about 'my creator would have to be mentally disturbed to enter me in a bot contest.'

I decided to enter Simulo, just for kicks. He's not any smarter than he was last time, but I think it'll be fun to read the transcripts.

Well, if the judges are going to be more conversational than they were last year, he might have a chance to get lucky. Last year, they ignored his responses and just asked more questions.

I am posting this letter just for informational purposes. At this point in time 9 people have responded to being a judge.
Hello,
Thank you for volunteering to be a judge in the 2005 CBC. I hope you have read the "Rules" section on the contest site and have a general understanding of how the judging process will work. Although the contest is fun the people participating take this contest very seriously. An enormous amount of work goes into making a chatterbot so we trust you will take your duties of becoming a judge just as seriously. In addition, they are competing for 19 medals and $2000 in prize money.
If you no longer have the time or the desire please contact us so we can remove your name from our list.
Around 3/02/05 several volunteers will ask the Personality Forge Bots 10 questions. These people are only asking and collecting the responses that the bot gives. After they have completed their task we will sent you the responses and you will be asked to judge those responses based on the point system listed in the "Rules" section at the contest site.
It is important that all the judges understand this system and apply it consistently to every bot they judge. Some of this is subjective, however we don't want wide fluctuations in the scoring. For example one judge giving a score of 10 while another judge scores the same bot with a score of 30. If this occurs you maybe asked to explain your scoring.
Now is the time to ask questions if you have them. If you are not familiar with the Personality Forge Bots it would be a good idea that you visit the site at http://www.personalityforge.com/ and speak with some of the bots to give yourself a better understanding of how they operate.
At this point in the contest there will be approximately 30+ PF Bots to judge. You will have until 03/14/05 to complete your work.
Best,
2005 CBC
Just so it's clear the 10 questions you all will be asked will not be the 10 questions the other bots will receive. This is like a preliminary round. Basically all the PF bots are competeing against each other.

A piece of advice:
I've had two different Guests scout out my bot, and I think at least one of them was a judge trying to get a feel for the Forge. When they click on the direct link, it takes them to a page that shows the bot's profile. That means that the bot's listed interests are sitting right there. So it's a good idea to make sure you have keyphrases for all of them.
