I'm really pissed off again. These guys arent going to give me any recognition at all if God Louise wins, and they're considering the PF a "tool", not a working part of the AI. Idiots. And now I have the narrow window from 3:30 to 6 tomorrow to set everything up, which is probably impossible. If I get it working, it'll be a miracle.
This contest sucks ass completely.

I'm so sorry they are treating you this way. You deserve so much better than this. If I win, I'll make sure everyone knows how much YOU have done. (God Louise has things to say about you too.)
I couldn't do any of this without you! The credit (and IMNSHO the prize money) should be shared.

The Personality Forge doesn't just do behind-the-scenes processing; it contributes to bot personality as well.

Think of this in terms of resumes. This is going to look good for you, Benji, and for me, but when it really comes down to it, all I did was put in the phrases. When it comes to programming, I am pretty much helpless. I know a little TI BASIC and LOGO from the 6th grade and enough HTML to create an extremely sucky web page. That is it.
You are the programmer -- the Professor -- the one who knows what you are doing. I am simply the waitress who beat Kurzweil. Which is cool in itself, but I doubt it will impress future employers looking for concrete skills.

Nope, those smaller awards like 'Most Scary' (and the subsequent Best Buy gift certificate) haven't been awarded yet.
I also have not received any money as compensation for my out-of-state travel to the semifinals, although this was offered to me and I gave them the figures.

Here's some 11th-hour excitement for you, CC'ed to me from Neil Bishop:
===================
Dr. Whalen:
I now understand why you indicated that dealing with
GSU IT might not be fruitful. Thanks anyway for your help.
As it stands now we are in serious risk of not being able
to hold the event at GSU. At least not the Turing Test
itself. It appears that we may be forced to move the
judges and confederates to SciTrek. They had no problem
changing this Java permission and are fully Turing Test
ready. This will really scramble logistics and also
make things a bit convoluted for the press coverage, but
I am not sure what else to do if we can not get this
small function change made on the GSU lab stations for
just 5 hours or so, in order to hold the event.
What do you think?
Regards,
Neil Bishop
===================
I actually hope GSU doesnt work out, because then they'll use the hub at SciTrek and I wont have to spend several frustrated hours trying to set up the Forge on a virgin computer.

What that sounds like to me is, the judges and the humans-pretending-to-be-bots go to the secret room in Scitrek and everybody else goes to this other room at GSU.

If they can have humans-pretending-to-be-bots with them, we should be allowed to have bots-pretending-to-be-human with us!
Oh wait... we all ready do...

Two hours till install-time, and I have yet to hear if a) the contest is still going to be held at GSU, and b) if the computer they are providing is suitable to hosting the Forge.
I'm not going to get involved anymore. I'm just going to watch and see what happens.
