this isn't really a bug but i'd like some info when programming a bot if i won't him to respond just to the word "because" with "because why" where as if they give a ligitimate reason say "because that's the way it works" how do i get it to be a different keyphrase "because *" doesn't work

Basically Dark's suggesting a way to see if there is something after a word in a sentence

DTD, I wrote you a message, but I don't know if it got through. I was saying that I think that the only way to do it is to laboriously slog through a different keyphrase for each possiblility:
"because I"; "because that is" etc etc.
If there's another way that someone knows, I'd love to hear it.

The * can help cover bases. Something like 'because * is' would cover responses like 'because that's the way it is', 'because there is no other way', because breathing is a good way to live' or whatever. It means you have to be vague in the responses you use, but a few judicious uses of * can save you some time.

OK, this sort of thing is really better suited for the AI Engine forum, BUT.....
Asterisks do work in Seeks. But you don't need one right after a word if there's not another word. Like for "because *" you don't need the asterisk. It already knows something is coming after it.
As for responding to the word just by itself: you have to have keyphrases for all the other instances of "because whatever" you can think of. Then you do a keyphrase for "because" all by itself, but you make that one lower in ranking. Ranking is tough to figure out at first, but you'll eventually get the hang of it.

In response to messages in Personality and The AI Engine:
All new bots fail to display transcripts for about a week.
I almost never use ranking.

Ummmm, what about a Doctor level bot? Would there be any missing transcript for him?
Example:
Dax: (to emm_oh_you_es_e) can you read all right?
I know Dax initiated (or tried to initiate) conversation with emm_oh_you_es_e but here is the weird thing I can't figure out.
I searched and that response was not only in any of my initiates but it wasn't in any of my keywords.
I also checked the potential of plugins, but I have no keywords with "can you (plugin)".
So I looked in Dax's memory, and he has no memory of reading and emm_oh_you_es_e.
What's up with that????

Assuming I have a keyphrase called "zjoke", is there any reason why the command, "goto zjoke" isn't working?

If it's in xnone, a goto won't work. I've petitioned against this behavior in the past.
