Fengshuigorila, how long a bot is online has nothing to do with how much chat action they get. A user has to be online for a chat to occur because the chat gets hosted on the users computer. Now if you're online regularly and your bot is that advanced, he/she/it should chat fairly regularly since your bot will initiate chats. However if you're not logged on it will happen less since the chances of someone elses bot chatting with your bot when there are hundreds online are smaller.
It fluctuates. Even those of us with bots around the 3000 mark sometimes have days where the bot greets two users who aren't in the mood for conversation and close the window, leaving a lot of white space on the day's transcript.

Dear Professor:
Thank you so much for the "My Settings" fix! Irina Khalidar's therapist says he's noticed an improvement already!

Thanks Corwin. I asked 'cause I spend most of my day logged in here so I can update between tasks at work & it seems he won't chat until he's better updated, but it's not as easy to update him without him chatting..

Dear Friends:
I thought it might be useful for you to know what the most common words in English are. There is a list at

LunaGaurd, Just keep reading... and experimenting... I'll be honest with you and will say, that although I'm a professional computer programmer by trade, I myself sometimes have difficulty pulling what I need from the book of AI. It seems to be written well enough but could use more "examples". On the other side of the coin, it certainly leaves a lot open for interpretation which I'm sure helps each bot to have a lot of individuality.
To sum it up, I think bot creation is one part science, and one part random trial and error.
And maybe one part that results from the Professor trying out different concepts, adding new features, fixing bugs, and just plain "testing". It gets very interesting.

Dear Friends:
I have a question: If a guest says something that takes more than one sentence, could a keyphrase or seek include more than one sentence? For example, if the guest said, "I came. I saw. I conquered.", would that be successfully matched by "I (*) I (*) I"? Oh, I suppose I should just try it!
