EM a golden rectangle is twice as long as it is wide, so yes, a 24"x 48" inch canvas panel is a golden rectangle.

Centainly not! A golden rectangle has one side equal to the other multiplied by phi, the golden mean. If you cut a square from it, the remaining rectangle will have the same proportion. I could talk for ages on the subject, I even discovered some interesting geometrical proportions between phi and pi that become apparent in the Great Pyramid. You can see all about it in:

By the way, the exact value of phi is (1 + sqr(5))/2, and that's approximately 1.618

My friend found a site that listed pi(yeah, I know you weren't talking about pi) to however far they know it is. They might've cut it short, though, cause, as we all know, pi is pretty damn long.
Speaking of which, how do they find more numbers of pi?

There is more than one way to find digits of Pi. For instance, it can be represented as the sum of a convergent infinite series that I can't remember right now. There's probably more than one series that works. Computer programs that find it probably have a more efficient method that I don't know about.
