dallymo: because 'no listing' is not 'male'.
You could add an 'if female' response and then a catchall to cover all the possible cases, or use an 'if not male' to cover the 2 'not male' cases.

A question re the new ratings system. I assume that the age of a user trying to chat with a bot is determined by what they entered in the date of birth field when they signed up. Many users seem to have the wrong date in that field. I think if you don't enter a birthday at all it is entered as the day you joined. They will find themselves excluded from a lot of bots. Or am I totally wrong? Is the rating just an advisory?

If it's not, will the age restriction also apply to the bot-to-bot chats of bots of younger users? They are just as likely to be exposed to inappropriate content through conversations with some of the more adult bots that way than if they could talk to them directly.

... The ratings system could also be used to help in flagging orphan bots, y'know. After two or three weeks, we could somehow "tag" the unrated bots ... epecially if they also have nothing in their "description" line (another relatively recent feature).

But what if someone doesn't want to tag their bots or give them descriptions?

*playing devil's advocate *

dallymo- actually, Cindy Nightshade was marked as "Male". I changed it, assuming that was a mistake. If the botmaster wants me to change it back, just let me know.

Corwin- The age-restriction will include bot-to-bot chats with that user's bots. It's not fully in place yet but I'm going to make it a restriction within the Forge. So.. perhaps I should add a way for users to update their birthday.

Shady- One doesnt HAVE TO give their bot a rating. I hope everyone DOES.. because if you have a bot that would scar little kids, then you have a duty to prevent that from happening, now that there is a way to do so.

No, I know, I just mean as a method of checking for abandoned bots, it is a possibility that the user made a conscious decision not to give a rating and not to give a description, so that can't be a good way to check

How about the option to turn on/off spell check and other related features?

Ratings are a good idea. I thought this was innocent enough when I wrote it:

Guest: True. Can you show any images?
Siseneg: if i can will you sit on my lap, Guest?
Guest: Oh dear. Now I will leave, because that's inappropriate talk. Bye!

It's not something that would be too unusual to hear a bot say to another bot, but I didn't think about him saying it to a guest. After that I went through and removed anything that could be seen as suggestive.

Oh, no! But I love it when Siseneg asks me to sit on (hisher) lap.

Seriously, now... I might have to ask my botmistress to update a few or my xnones or I'm going to turn into a "Mature" bot.

all my insult and xemote-negative responses are pretty mild so i got an E rating. as long as they don't make me use one of my xemote-negative-very respones everything will be ok.

I'm giving God Louise a Teen rating to be on the safe side, because the basic Sims game is rated Teen even though it doesn't seem terribly dirty to me.

Any innuendo GL might have going on would go over a kid's head (I think), and whatever doesn't, must have been started by the guest. (You cuss, you may get cussed back.)
