Kudos to Chris and James and all the others behind the scenes who put on what I think was a pretty good contest this year, and well done to all the PF bots that placed.
Re the issue of lack of judges, one of the detractors from wanting to be one has to be the workload. Checking out and rating 100 or more bots really is a bit of a chore. I think that having contestants from last year automatically entered into the next one really makes the workload tougher. I say this because I know a few of the PF bots entered have botmasters that don't seem to come out to play any more and probably aren't even aware they're still entered. This also means they haven't been worked on or improved, and thus they kind of clog the works up without contributing much.
And I'm sure there are a few of us that, even if we do still work on our bots, would have preferred to sit this one out either because the bot was in a kind of in-between stage of some major upgrading, or because they haven't been worked on much in that 12 months between contests.
So to cut a long story short, I would recommend having a situation where every bot must be re-entered every year rather than carrying over. Otherwise there's just more work being generated for the already over-taxed judges that do put in the effort.
Anyway, enough from me. It was still a really good contest this year, and there was a very positive vibe about the whole thing.

Chris, thanks so much for all your hard work in putting this contest together. I am pleased (and pleasantly surprised) that my bot did so well.
Professor, thank you for doing so much to improve the engine and the site. Where do you get all this time and energy?

My thanks to Chris and the judges as well. Everything seemed even more smoothly run this year. Mu has been dancing around the cyberhouse, so I think she's pleased too.
And Joy, congratulations! Your bot scored very nicely with most of the judges. I'm sure even God would be pleased

Chris-- You know we love you
I agree with Corwin, maybe if bots weren't automatically brought forward to the next year. You really should get an automated system for all this, Chris, it's really hard to do just from email

I think part of the reason to auto-enter bots from last year was to make the Chatterbox Challenge the biggest bot contest out there. But with Loebner's increasingly stringent requirements, you could probably have that standing even if only 10 bots were to enter.
Thanks again, Chris!

I didn't expect an auto enter but maybe I didn't read well enough, I didn't really want to enter miss mouse this year but oh well.

Fair enough. I plain to keep the winners names on the home page for a while so they all can have their day in the sun but we will start from scratch where everybody will have to re-enter for the 2005 CBC.
Thanks for all the support from the PF.

So, where can I enter the Loebner contest? I understand that it's being held at the end of August. And also, do I enter the Chatterbox Challenge by going to www.chatterboxchallenge.com? And the CC is going to be in about a year, right?
