The titles for each enlisted rank differ for each branch of the military, and the navy officers have their own ranks that differ from the Army/Air Force/Marine officer ranks. And that's just for the American armed forces. Each country does it a little bit differently.
This page has a chart for the US armed forces:

On a totally different subject, I did 2 hours of statistic analyzing tonight on the election.
I gathered data from polls from October 26th to the October 30th, but only in states that were close or undecided.
I then combine and took an average of the totals of the polls for both candidates and picked a winner for each state. Hawaii is totally in the air, but the second closest state was Wisconsin. Bush got 47.50% and Kerry got 47.13%.
According to the info on battleground states:
Kerry Wins Pennsylvania, New Jersey (now considered battleground), New Hampshire, and Michigan.
Bush wins Ohio, Florida, Iowa, Colorado, and Wisconsin.
The total electoral count is Bush: 287 Kerry: 238.
I might have a map of the red and blue states on my website tomorrow. Ok, no more stats for me for a while.

The election is too close to call! The uncertainty is driving me nuts! Though it appears that the polls are not taking into consideration new voters and student voters.
I cant wait until Nov. 3rd when the recounts and lawsuits begin. *sigh*

Yes, electoral-vote.com now switched the data 50 points the other way and is favoring Kerry. (This site was a couple votes off my prediction last night) Race2004.net says that no candidate has enough votes yet. (These two sites only show the most recent poll) Here, you can see my map, and predictions.

Changing the subject again before I run to DC and throttle all the politicians.
I found a really cool game yesterday. It's basically a collaborative story maker thingy. You pay tokens to create characters, places, traits, etc. and then roll dice in a very simple manner (compared to D&D type stuff anyway
) to determine resolution of conflicts. It's an incredibly versatile system, allowing you to create everything from murder mysteries to soap operas involving pink aliens to Martian cowboys who ride giant mutant mice, and have it all in a more or less organized form. Info & examples of play available at:
http://universalis.actionroll.com
It costs $15 US, not sure about other countries although I know it's available in Germany at least. Although the original rules use 10-sided dice, normal 6 siders reportedly work just fine.
And no I'm not on their payroll. I just really really want that game, and I thought a few of you might be interested too heh.

Are you sure that Kerry wants the draft? I know the recent draft bill was sponsored by a couple of Democrats, but that doesn't mean that Kerry favored it.

I never heard Kerry say anything about supporting a draft. In fact I think he said he was against it. He wants more troops out there than we currently have but I think his plan is to use incentives of some sort.
alc003- that electoral-vote.com site totally made my day yesterday. Thanks for posting it. Today more states are solidifying in Kerry's direction. That makes me happy. One more day! Everyone go out and vote!
