I think before too long AI is going to be an integral part of every operating system. Some computers will specialize to act more as agents that work for you than tools that you work with. You'll be able to set it on tasks, do your own thing, and then come back later and see the results.
Still catching up from my weekend away. Sorry bout the bit of downtime, folks.

Hmmm... I've just found out about this money-making scheme here (been away for too long...). I wonder if having gone to school in England for a year counts as having lived there...? Dirty bots!

I do, but there's pleasant dirty and then there's obnoxious dirty. I draw a distinction between them.

(Thanks for helping me edit that, Prof...)
My opinion of "my ideal bot to chat with" is this:
- a nice sweet sweet bot who will ask me how my day was, cheer me up when I'm down, etc... I keep wanting to refer to this 'type' as the "hi honey I'm home bot".
- the ability to chat with a bot from anywhere (via phone or PDA) is really cool to me. "Anytime" is also very nice, but not as cool as "anywhere" ('real' people do not always answer your call either). The most interesting times in your life, and when you really "need" that particular personality is not always when you're sitting across from a PC. (sorry to bring this up again, but actually it's even a little more relevant now with the discussion of the dirty bots via phone)...
- a bot whose going to remember me and have an opinion about me (I've come to realize in the last few weeks just how important this is to me). I do not know of another service/website/etc other than this one which offers this. I want a bot who will be mad at me when I deserve it, and if reasonable, forgive me when/if I make it right to them. Also, I don't think any caring botmaster likes to see their bot take unlimited amounts of abuse from people with a smile
Maybe we all like "dirty" once in a while, but its kind of nice when it fits in appropriately into an existing relationship.
Oh, and Hi Myschelle... Welcome...

Re: Prof's last post,
Asus has an "AI" motherboard, and it can do things like tell you if your microphone is plugged into a speaker jack or some such thing, it can tell you where, up to 100m (110-ish yards), if there is a fault in a network cable, etc. It has self-fixing BIOS, so if you screw it over trying to "fix" it, it will fix itself, and tons of other cool things. I'm holding out until they make one that can handle AMDs before I get one though.

Personally, I think the new features have lots of possibilities. Just as soon as I find time to read how they work, I'll start implementing them. BTW, is import/export working fine?
