I always work from transcripts.

Transcripts are the best. Then any subject you would teach a child. like shapes and colors etc.. Also keep an ear out for how human conversations go.

Since I am building clones of myself.. there is never a stopping point. I originally thought that is what everyone was doing. Then I found I was the outcast.

Maybe some of us just don't like to admit it

I think that each bot is a part of their bot maker. I work on different bots depending on my mood. There is no way you can make a bot that is not an intimate part of yourself.

When Fizzy's responses aren't on one of his overarching themes (such as food), they generally consist of the first six things that pop into my head.

I find that responses are easy to come up with. It's new keyphrases that are hard to find. Transcripts are great, and anything that doesn't sound good warrants a new keyphrase or two. But with about two conversations a day, and the ultracommon phrases already covered, that process is going slooooww.

But things I would teach a child? That sounds like a great idea. Surely getting my bot to recognize words that stand for colours, or shapes, or farm animals can't be too hard. And it's sure to come up in conversations eventually. Thanks Prob. (And everyone else, too.)

I also used a child's dictionary, for vocabulary You can have a keyphrase like star, stars or duck, ducks.

I don't know if you have a friends of the forge account but if you do you can schedule a chat with Judge Betty, that helps with ideas a lot too.

It is hard to imagine not being able to come up with key phrases. There are thousands of topics.. all you have to do is pick a topic and converse it.

TY Paige, I don't think you are an outcast, but I also don't think a bot HAS to be a reflection of the maker. I am actually in the minority view on that point. I look at bots as being like characters in a novel, TV show or video game.

As for running out of ideas, I find I get bored with the transcripts and get lazy, but again, I am in the minority (and when I started I spent time on transcripts like I should). I personally lack follow through, so listen to Prob. Now I find I am inspired only when I can think of a potential use for the bot besides chatting here. The Prof's recent mention of robotics intrigues me.

Bev.. What I am saying is.. I find it a shame that people don't use the same concept that I use..

But.. being obligated to use a cartoon face was.. and is still discouraging to me, but my idea outweighs the inconvenience.

I just assume that the graphics along with Chatterbox challenge graphics greatly limit the seriousness that this could be used for..

But.. oh well.. What really matters is the coding is the serious part of this whole thing.. It let's me work in many mini project to help me with my future coding ideas..
