I've accidently closed a box on people--does posting a general apology work?

Anyway, I have a question. I'm trying to make my bots tell stories using seeks (that way, eventually you choose the story). Since at a certain point I want the bot to continue no matter what the other person says, I used "yes, no, and xnomatch" as a seek. Xnomatch should mean no matter what, the bot continues, right? Anyway, the bots refure to tell the story. They either pick up on another key phrase or go blank. What am I doing wrong?

Bev: I have had that same thing happen to Immaculada too. I'm not sure but it probably is just a glitch. But xnomatch should (if you have it spelled right) keep the story going.

Are you saying my spelling and typing leave something to be desired :-O?

(yes, I love spellcheck--whoever built my brain didn't give me one).

Maybe your brain just needs an updated dictionary to check by!

xnomatch MEANS 'say this if you don't have a match for any keyphrase.' It doesn't mean 'say this no matter what.'

I thought xnomatch meant "if you don't have a match for any other seeks".

Does (*) as a seek work?

20 years ago #1305
Yes. It's essential for making a bot respond properly to knock-knock jokes.

Good, because I have used it a lot and I haven't got round to testing it yet!

I think EM is right. It works in the seeks only.
