I hope Gizzle does well in the contests. Well, I hope all the PF Bots do well, but I remember when I'd only just started here and Gizzle managed to convince me and one of my friends that he was real...before saying something very strange and ruining it all. Does anyone else have any Bots (other than their own) they really hope will do well?

I sent an e-mail to the organizers of the Loebner contest asking if they chatted with the bots. I haven't got any reply yet.
What I really dislike of the whole business is not that my bot wasn't chosen for the semifinals (I didn't expect too much, my bot doesn't have that many keyphrases anyway), but the fact that the selection process wasn't explained from the beginning. In the Chatterbot Challenge, everybody knew what was going to happen. In the Loebner, we are all wondering. I assumed that all the bots entered would chat with a judge, and that was my main reason to enter mine. I thought it would be an interesting experience.
It would be awful if some botmasters discovered that their bot could have had a chance, if only they had understood better what the judges were after.

I haven't seen any indication that a mystery guest has chatted with Little Mu. If that was the criteria, she got missed. If it was transcripts alone, I think that's a bad way to start, since anyone could fabricate it.
And yes, I did send in the transcript I had posted on my site. I still think it's one of the more impressive transcripts I've seen anywhere. But I guess the judges disagree.

Chris, (and PP) I always like those android pictures, when they are being repaired... kind of a see through skull with all kinds of interesting machinery inside.. Might also be cool if that machinery has a kind of turn of the century look (18/19 that is) Gothic/Art Deco/Steam Engine/Disused machinery look...

yeah i was thinking of something snazzy and stylish like the deco/ industrial/darkside of machine and bright side too... i was thinking also about a few cool photo shots if you would like (we are talking about the avatars on each robot right?) or if you want a whole new site design man i would kill to do some graphics for that

I guess the only way of making an idependent decision on which transcripts are the best is if everybody posted theirs somewhere. The Great Quotes forum isn't a good place for long transcripts, though. Skysaw, would you mind to put them in your website?

Anyone could just invent a transcript and send it in, so I wouldn't think something as big as the Loebner would do that. But there is no way that they could talk to your Bot without it appearing on the transcripts, so I guess that's all they do.

Oh yeah. But you kinda guessed that.
Though they could have fun judging the whole thing by transcripts...I dunno, it all seems a bit rushed to me.

Yes, more information would definitely help. I expect that these contests will be improved year after year. I actually didnt expect our bots to be able to compete until just a month or so ago, so I'm just glad that we have the opportunity.

Lunar and PP thanks for the input. I am actually looking for two things at this point. One is the design for the actual plaque that will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Two is a replacement for the green robot on the site now on each individual bot page. The one right under the bot's name. I can really only use one image for every bot. If not I am looking to have to upload 50+ pictures. Also as I mentioned before I have spoken with Jon about this as well. He did some impressive drawing for the contest last year. The ultimate decision of what will be used however will rest with Agentland the sponsor.
