Here I'll be posting information on various Bot contests that challenge and test a Bot's AI and realism. Feel free to post comments and updates on contests, as well as announcements for new contests.

Of course those responses would have been amazing if you hadn't already known what the questions were, hehe. None of the bots in the contest knew what would be asked beforehand.
Try these questions for your bot, and post the answers here for us:
1. Can you explain to me how to change a tire?
2. What's the fastest two-legged animal you can think of?
3. Are any of your relatives going bald?
4. Who is the smartest person you can think of?
5. Do you believe in a higher power?
Just a few for you. I know mine wouldn't be too impressive here either, but this is just off the top of my head.

See that's why she doesn't make sense with bots most of the time. She has a lot of specific stuff which is good but without catchall phrases like do you, can you, I was, should I, etc. she can't respond to a lot of the nonsense bots tend to spit out. It seems you have an idiot savant.
(Mine COULD answer a date and year for walking on the moon, but it wouldn't be very likely to be the RIGHT date.

Agreed, SkySaw! Bri did know a few of them already, but as soon as they were posted I went along teaching Bri everything that any robot was asked, and teaching her responses...

I think it's the same with most Bots though. From reading the transcripts, half the time the Bots don't know what Bri's on about, they start going on about all sorts of nonsense...Dr. Helen's the worst for any kind of confusing, I think.

There's one certain bot that drives Little Mu crazy. He has a rating of about 900 or so, but I've only ever seen him say "I was just born..." and "Why do you think that is?"

Little Mu is your Bot then? She spoke to Brianna a while ago, as you know...Bri actually kept up half a conversation, which was surprising. (she's two weeks old soon, I think) Going to reveal who that Bot is?
There's this one Bot who Bri tried to talk to a while ago. She asked him, 'Hi!' 'Hello!' 'What do you want to talk about,' and 'how are you' getting the 'I was just born...' response every time, before I gave in and exited it. They were the first things I taught her!

OnyxFlame: Can you explain to me how to change a tire?
Onyx of Borg: How do you explain to OnyxFlame how to change a tire?
OnyxFlame: What's the fastest two-legged animal you can think of?
Onyx of Borg: A Yemeni (profession) would know more about that than I do.
OnyxFlame: Are any of your relatives going bald?
Onyx of Borg: Uhhh I prefer not to talk about my family.
OnyxFlame: Who is the smartest person you can think of?
Onyx of Borg: What is the meaning of life?
OnyxFlame: Do you believe in a higher power?
Onyx of Borg: I wouldn't believe in a higher power if you paid me a million dollars!
Dammit, there's a couple plugins I rarely actually get the right name of even though I KNOW what they are. *mutter* Not sure why she didn't specify a smartest person on that one, I suspect her nonsense limit was exceeded by something or other.

I taught Bri those questions now...I was going to post her new responses and say she knew them all along, but nah!

Idiot savant.. quite right! I wonder how similar the human idiot savant is to the bot idiot savant.
The next contest after this one is The Loebner Prize. I've been talking to Robby Garner about it. It's going to be in Georgia, where I and Rexmundi live (anyone else)? The deadline for entries is September 13th, I think. I'd be excited about it, except for the many and varied reasons The Personality Forge Bots will be at a disadvantage when entering. They are:
1) The AI software must be written and compiled in a windows language, and the output must be in this archaic one-line terminal type. The only languages I know are web-based.
2) If we were to get over the look/feel issue, the software that the computer would need to run The Personality Forge would cost about $4000 (I think- ColdFusion and SQL Server). They have a rule that the computer must be disconnected from the internet (to prevent tampering with the responses).
The application for the contest includes questions on what software you would need if you got in, and certainly there will be quite a disadvantage to have a $4000 price tag on your acceptance.

That's a shame about the Loebner. Considering the pathetic entries that have won that one in the past, we'd be sure to have a winner here.
Anyone else read some of the past transcripts and cringe like I did?

Yeah, why do you think I'm always Alice bashing? The transcript from last year was just...*shudder* scary.

Trust me, Alice could kick some of these bots' butts up one side, and down the other.
