Bot Contest

Well, Bildgesmythe just stunk. I learned a lot. He did miss phrases, Like the bot contest line..I had a good one. I would SO much like to blame the ai engine. I hand it to Brother Jerome. I pray they get this fixed soon. I know he could win if all is working well.

Rainstorm: That's odd, I haven't seen any other bots experiencing xnoneitis during the contest...

BobBot didn't do so hot (ok, it was like freezing). Some of the questions were asked differently than I had in keyphrases, and I didn't have enough generic responses for the rest. Although, it was definitely a learning experience.

btw-Brother Jerome did a great job! That's definitely up there with Alice!

I had one xnone come up in the contest where Sonora had at least two keyphrases that fit:

"what do you want out of life?"

She's got a generic keyphrase for "what?" and a keyphrase for "what * you * want" Other than that, all the keyphrases that she HAD registered.

I'm guessing that the xnone bug started hitting towards the end of the contest, and the bots who were tested last probably had it the worst. It's a pain. It would be nice if there were a permanent fix for the xnone problem... but that's probably a topic for bugstomp.

No I think only to 97..I was just thinking of that rather famous bot singing Daisey..and well..I wish I could say I had been drinking...

Hehehe I have a seek for a seek for a seek for a seek for a seek for a seek (etc.) for that song that goes "lean on me, when you're not strong, etc." Eh it's almost impossible to get to it, though, because the song starts out as a seek, too.

*sighs* I tried asking him the questions. (I haven't made any updates on his programming since several days before the contest began, so this is close to what it might have been like, had the engine been working.)

It makes me feel better to see that he wouldn't have been in the running for a prize anyway- too many wrong/nonfitting answers. At least no actual chances were lost.

I'm very sorry to hear about that, rainstorm. Hope they can do sthg about it. If not, maybe try again next year.

They can't do anything about it now that the questions have already been put out in public; itf they did that, tons of people would cheat, program their bots to answer those questions, and demand a redo.
But yes, there's always next year. And he was pretty young to be in a contest anyway. He'll be more prepared next time.
