Right- the initial judging is taking place this week. I got an email, too. I've been insanely busy lately- I have a new full-time job, and assorted projects from my old job to do evenings and weekends but I'm going to try to tweak some things on here this week when I find a moment.

I'm praying for you Loebner folks. It's hard not to have a stake in this, even for us whose bots aren't in the contest.

Well my bot is not joining this year. any contest that advocates the slaughter of innocent lobsters has to be stopped.
Sheryl you are so full of it...it makes me gag and Professor should be ashamed for allowing her post to remain. Anybody who reads this message board saw my post asking Sheryl to contact me. This was weeks ago. She claims her computer was down. I've been trying to contact her for MONTHS not weeks. I've written from several different e-mail addresses with no response. Only when I choose a fake name does she response because she doesn't know it's from me. Give me a break....we all know what you think about me and the Chatterbox Challenge. You've taken cheap shots with no facts to back up your claims whatsoever. I thought your offer to help raise money for the medals was sincere and geniune but boy was I wrong. I see you still hold a grudge that extends to slamming my bot as well as many others in the most recent Chatterbox Challenge. Yes, let everybody know that Sheryl Clyde shamefully gave her own bot a 10 while giving my bot a one. What does that have to say about her moral integrity.

all right I confess I am out to ruin your good name. Now I have publicly apologized on my website and I am publicly apologizing in person, so please let this matter drop. I also do not recall publicly slamming your bot or otherwize, but if I did I am sorry. Also I told you I could not afford even the ten bucks for the medals and I do not recall offering to help out fiancially. I get disablity checks of $550 a month and I am suppose to live on that money so where would I be able to help with such a thing. But if you don't believe I am on disablity I can get a letter from the social security office proving that I am on disablity and the amount there of. as for giving my bot 10 points I also gave other bots that I have used and liked 10 points. I mean come on if you were allowed to vote for your own bot wouldn't you give it a high score. But to make you happy I promise that in the future I will not enter my bot or vote for any others. So to make a long story short. I AM SORRY!!!

Of course giving your own bot a 10 is justified but you sure can't justifiy giving me a 1 no matter how you wanna spin it.

Personally, from email you, you seem like an honest man. I've seen the exact same characteristics in Sheryl, but have also known her for a longer period of time.
A few things about your post... (Sheryl, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to disclose some of what we chatted about)

Well, Sheryl said she forgot her username and password for her site account, (which was lost when her computer crashed, since she keeps things like that on her computer just like me, I've been in the same predicament) and the webhosts "are being real asses about it". Since Sheryl doesn't have a lot of money, and is also looking for a good deal, (Heck, She's got more money than I have) she was looking for a good deal on web hosting for her site. I've seen her host's site, and personally, I wouldn't use them if my life depended on it. When she got her computer back, she was amazed at the number of obscene and harrassing emails she had received from you. She came to me and asked what she should do, given the context of the situation. I said 'just take his name off the site'. I was later told by Butterfly Dream that her computer had crashed and she lost the username/password for her site (again I point out that I've done worse, I lost the username and password for my boss's sites, and I'm the technical advisor). After i had found out, I told her to contact you, and tell you what's up. Now personally, if I was in that situation, there's no way in hell you could get me to email someone who's been harassing me. I've taken my share of harassment, and that's exactly how it plays out.

How so? She spent hours upon hours constantly poking and prodding us PF users to donate!

No, but she took up the challenge. Instead of being slammed, she should at least get a thank-you, you know.

Tell that to your judges, who seem to enjoy giving bots (the ones who can't chat their way out of a wet paper bag) 7's and 8's, and giving infinitely better bots scores of 1-4. I say beauty (or lack thereof) is in the eye of the beholder. If you give people the right to vote, they sure will, and you can't threaten or change what they vote, because that would contravene the democratic way of life, and teach people that communism and other such parties are alive and well in our country.
