Here I'll be posting information on various Bot contests that challenge and test a Bot's AI and realism. Feel free to post comments and updates on contests, as well as announcements for new contests.

Chris, for clarification, in your example you would not remove the scores for someone who voted a 10 for themselves and a 1 for the top bot? What determines war votes? How many bots does the member need to vote a 1 for to be a war voter? What if they do not vote a 10 for their bot but vote 1s for 10 of the top bots?

I understand what you are doing and I think it is incredibly bad sportsmanship to go through the bots and try to derail the voting with 1s but I also think if the contest is to be altered the criteria for alteration needs to be very very clear.

I'm not sure just yet. The first thing we will have to do is get a majority in the committee before we take any action. Asssuming we do we will layout exactly how we are going to do this. No bot will be penalized. The bot will keep the 10 he gave himself. Many people have given their bot a 10 but we would remove all the 1's he gave. Some bots may benefit more than others but all bots effected will benefit. Details of how to do that will be hammered out in the committee.

Miss Mouse:
The idea behind war voters are: their bot/the bot they are 'hired' to vote for gets a 10, and EVERY one else gets a one, no questions asked. This is obviously stereotyping and a way to tip the scales in their bot's favor. Personally, I know for a fact Talk-bot will beat Steve's electronic butt if the war votes are removed, but I would rather lose honestly than lose by someone else's hand, or lose to someone who would otherwise have lost to Steve if the war voting never took place. I would be honored to beat out talkbot, but that will never happen, but I am still as honored to lose to him, he is a good bot, and the same with Little Mu, and a few others.

I gave my bot 10 for best overall bot but a 4 for funniest. Maybe I was a bit prejudiced with the 10, but it wasn't the only one I gave.

LOL.. all this is why I say the contest is bogus. In addition, if talkbot took "most of the war voting hits" then how could it be up at the top?

And now, even worse, the rules are going to change, mid contest, as usual, and usually to the benefit of the person running the site.

I stand by my original statement.

That's just because we, the people, think it should

You're just a dumbass trying to stir up shit, nobody. None of us agree with your opinion so you might as well stop expecting us to respond to your meaningless drivel.

But seriously, Even with all of the strangely immature actions a lot of contestants and voters are displaying, (come on guys in the lon run it hurts all of us, in the present and in the future of what we are trying to accomplish in the advancement of this type of programs and technology, it is just slowing us all down, let us all get down to the good stuff for a change and be a bit more positive). I really think other than that everything is going off very well, which I can say in a completely neutral postion since KT is not doing well in any catagory, but I also honestly did not think she would. My purpose for entering her was to show that robots can have a personality that can carry on a conversation that makes a good amount of sense and not just be here to correctly answer an improbable amount of trivia questions (improbable for most humans, like myself). And what I set out to do has been accomplished and I am happy with that goal set.

And I will be completely honest, I gave my bot a 10 just to boost her fragile ego and I got my sweety to do the same, but I did not and will not hurt other bots out there, I will vote them fairly instead. If a bot is good they will get an equally deserving score, and I know some bots have bad days so I would chat them two or three times before finalising any vote given. That is one thing I wished the judges had taken into considerartion of doing before hand.

Yeah, I mean most people will give their bot a 10, personally I think that's ok, but what I object to is pulling others down.

However, I think that war voting can be determined by more than someone who gives EVERYone else 1s. There are a lot o' bots out there (88?). I think that there are some cases that are obviously war votes, and they should go. I vote that the council (wow, that sounds so official) votes to eliminate war votes; Chris (or anyone) comes up with a list and the others agree on it. Like I said, war voting is more than just giving your own bot a 10 - I assume it's rather obvious when you look at the trends.

war voting isn't giving yourself 10's, it's giving yourself 10 and everyone else 1. It's putting yourself higher and everyone else lower.
