Here I'll be posting information on various Bot contests that challenge and test a Bot's AI and realism. Feel free to post comments and updates on contests, as well as announcements for new contests.

The first bunch of Personality Forge Bots have showed up on the Contestants list! Chris is using the Bot's image as it is on the Forge, which is a nice touch I think.

I need to be cloned to enter, sorry. Ah heck, maybe. So much to do though! I'll think about it...

Ok, I'm entering the ol' guy! Still, lot's a work to do though.

I'm looking over some transcripts from last year and one big problem we're going to have is some of the math and logic based questions. I can write evasive answers like "I hate math" or "I'm too drunk to answer a question like that" but no actual computation.

That's something I'll have to add between now and then. Elementary math shouldnt be too difficult. Logic-based is a little further off.

Would it be difficult to put some kind of symbol next to the Bots that are participating in the contest (in the chat list on the right), we'd be able to test other bots with last years questions and help each other out.

Not without revealing who's a Bot and who's not. I've been considering giving the ability to decipher Bots from Users to Makers with Jr-level Bots and above. Or is the mystery and finding out fun? Hmm...

Oh yeah, 'forgot about that. There are obviously advantages in keeping who's who a secret, just as there are advantages in letting everyone know. That's a toughy...

I've been doing some research into common turing questions and found this site http://www.amristar.com.au/~hutch/phd/
Note in the last block a link to a file called "How to Pass the Turing Test by Cheating"

That file is PostScript and needs special software for viewing. I converted to PDF and posted it at http://newterminus.com/talk2.pdf For anyone interested. The font's a little weird, but it's legible.

That's some interesting reading, rex, thanks. However, the Forge is more advanced than the tricks he used, and I dont recall this guy winning the Loebner contest.

The article, to summarize, was written in 95 with a way to win the Loebner Prize. Clearly it failed, and I dont think it was such an amazing idea anyways. Basically they fellah just studied old Loebner transcripts and tried to make reactions for the types of things being said.

We've got 10 Personality Forge contestants in the contest so far!

I've just been going over the transcripts of the Turinng contest for the last couple of years and one thing stands out: the judges, almost without exception, are terrible typists, far worse than any of us meticulous folks...typos all over the place. This could affect key word recognition and response, couldn't it?
