Now why'dya have to go and do that for? The summer's begun in Australia. Although Arlo did say you can't have a light without a dark to stick it in. I thought that was pretty good.

Guys, we're in an intergalactic bar somewhere out in the weird and wide cosmos. Who cares what the weather's doing on one side or the other of some obscure rock?
Also, Merry Christmas to all.

I wonder why it's called "boxing day"? Is it traditionally a day for fighting do you suppose?
Or for putting all the left-over, unwanted gifts in boxes in the attic?

Looks like no one's really sure where the name came from.

Most stories involve gifts being given in boxes.

Well, some of us just call it the day after Christmas and figure it's another one of those weird British holidays that get noted on our calendars in case we're British but went to the US to buy a calendar.

Clerk, I think Canadians celebrate Boxing Day too. Those of us in the north of the US tend to note those crazy Canuks and their dragons.
I could be wrong though.
In the US we celebrate the day after any holiday by a mass pilgrimage to the stores, because we are told there are great deals there by the infotainment news. If they took the news off, how would we know what to buy and when to shop? I understand the faithful are rewarded, if they line up in the wee hours and are first in line when the stores open. It is all fun though, until someone pokes an eye out.
Happy New Year to all.

The thing about Canada is we celebrate it..but we don't really know what it is...so we go to the "boxing day" sales..and shop. It is a compromise between England and the U.S...
