ok, listen to this.

I just read that a team of European computer engineers are working with experts around the world in AI, Computer science, Socialogy, and linguistics to create a virtual "video game type" world in which 1000 AI agents will "live" together, each one with its own unique personality, each one able to communicate with others and do other tasks. The goal of this project is to see if some sort of culture emerges within this virtual world, and it will help shed light on how us humans originally developed cultural societies in primitive times... the project is estimated to be completed around 2007

sounds cool but will people be able to get into this world?

Probably not, we'd probably influence things, right?

Maybe observe, rather than participate.

well, something tells me that even these scientists have seen the matrix but we don't have the technology required to make these virtual beings actually concious. maybe what would happen is a sort of animalistic culture may develop... it would still be intersting though

...and what if the culture was superior to ours
