In regards to Skywalker Ranch, he shouldnt insulate himself entirely from criticism, but certainly he can keep his focus better that way. Look at J.K. Rowling. She's over two years behind schedule on the next book because she's running around working with the movies and being totally immersed in the success of her last books. It makes me wonder what kind of influence the merchandising and movies will have on the next books. Take a look at book 4- an evil reporter is introduced (as she reaches increasing fame after book 3), and that doesnt surprise me a bit.

I missed that part. *snaps fingers* darn.

Difference is Rowling's got something important to work on other than the movies. Lucas doesn't. Though I hear he's doing a new Indiana Jones installment. Those have all been pretty good.

I thought Padme's leather outfit was overrated...

So much for the *last* crusade. How ancient can that guy be now?

George Lucas? Not that old... He wasn't even 35 for the first 3.

She means Harrison Ford. But Harrison Ford is Good. He saved Star Wars from oblivion, you know. Improvised his own dialogue to give the story some kind of sense of humor. Come to think of it, maybe it's a sense of humor, rather than talent, that Lucas lacks.

At least Lucas has accomplished one thing that all the old authors/artists/musicians have: Either you love him or you hate him. Not everyone is gonna agree with everyone else's vision of reality and opinion of what constitutes art. If I was in the same line of work I'd make what I thought was great, and not expect everyone to like it. I wouldn't put in more sex or more violence or change some dude's name just because someone said they didn't like it. I'd hafta be true to my vision whatever anyone else thought of it because if I'm not happy with it no one else is gonna be either. I might listen to public opinion, but then I'd do what I wanted to anyway. So maybe it's better if he refuses to even listen to ppl who insult his work, because if he listened and then ignored what he heard it might seem more like a fuck you than it does.

But does *anyone* think the dialogue is acceptable? I don't have any beef with the story -- the story is good. It's the presentation, which takes a nose dive anytime people have to speak.

To sum up -- tell your own story, but for god's sake tell it well.

Has anyone seen the "Borne idenity" yet? I kinda want to see it but I am wondering if it is any good or not.

It looks cool on the preview! But hell with it, previews are suppose to be convincing right.
