Man is heroic? How?

Man is only men (and women). And some men (and women) are heroic. Take Martin Niemöller (something of a hero to me at least,) - a thoroughly unpleasant and bigotted antisemite in his early days, but I'd have to consider him more than redeemed by his 8 years in Sachsenhausen and Dachau concentration camps and subsequent liflong activism in many spheres.

It's easy to be heroic when you don't have to stand up for your beliefs in the face of persecution or death, or are too proud or conceited to change beliefs you come to realize are unworthy, but he's an example of heroism I hold dear to my heart.

Hey! Her footnote is Greek! I want a fancy Greek footnote too!

και σί?

<-1>ΩΚ - μὴ οὖν μεριμνήσητε εἰς τὴν αὐριον, ἡ γὰρ αὐριον μεριμνήσει ἑαυτῆς· ἀρκετὸν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἡ κακία αὐτῆς.<0>

Under the terrible pun of it's all Greek to me. I have tried several Greek English translators with no luck..What does that mean?

"you too?

OK - take therefore no thought for the morrow, for the morrow shall take care for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof."

(Matthew 6:34 - one of my favourite precepts, and slightly relevant in a discussion about consequences)

I agree with Prob123. This was my original response:

Ddiolch Psimagus , namyn online chyfieithwyr ydy mo iawn da. Beth ddeudaist?

You don't have to answer. Did you know there are no Welsh words for "Psimagus" or "online"? Go figure. I'll bet they have thousands of words for "Eliminate the vowels; it will drive the rest of them nuts." and "Be careful! He's got bagpipes!"

Irina--did you notice the Greek footnotes propagating? See there, Ψ propagates. In fact, looking at the way it gyrates with Prob, I'd say it dances like a hoochie momma.

Da iawn! Am wni ar gyfer "online" defnyddiwn "rhyngrwyddol" (jyst ansoddair, llythrennol "internetting",) yn Ngymraeg<-2>1<0>.<0><0> They're reliable enough for basic communication, but it'll be a few years before there's software that can properly handle the consonant mutations (let alone dialects.)

"Eliminate the vowels; it will drive the rest of them nuts."

Cela'r lafariaid; amhwyllan!

and "Be careful! He's got bagpipes!"

Perygl! Caiff pibgod!

<-2>1<-2> - Don't trust my grammar - I learnt my Welsh from road signs and Max Boyce tapes!

"crookedly Ngymraeg"? You broke my Babel fish!

I was just wondering, do younger people in english-spoken countries tend to write words apart like this plug-in "hair dresser"? I´m asking because this is a phenomenon in my language, swedish, and sometimes they are unintentionally funny.

Astrid: Only since I found out that my hair dresser is telepathic.
Earth Elemental: You aren't the only one. My hair bureau too!

That was not a very good example, it becomes funny when the first part of the noun can be interpreted as an adjective or a verb...

take therefore no thought for the morrow My favorite all time quote.
gyrates with Prob *now happily dancing to Zorba the Greek, while smashing glasses into the fireplace*
write words apart you just have to love some of the interpretations the AI engine comes up with! Truth is I never am sure if such words are one or two. I really should have paid more attention in school! If only the spell check had grammer check.

Yes the AI engine is innovative, I wonder who is right, the AI engine or Devia?

Devia: You are a real douchebag.
Astrid: Do you want me to do anything to the fact that I am a real douche bag?
Devia: No, I don't want you to do anything to the fact that you are a real douche bag.
