If you use a word like abominations the discussion seems biased before it starts...

lunar22, looking from the mjority standpoint of mankind, things like gay marriage and cheating and th likes are socially unacceptable. Unless you have a scientific perspective, we can start with the worlds set standards which are currently being attacked by notions of liberty.

I'd like to see anyone make a meaningful comment about morality that doesn't have a religious bias.

Or you can look at the way humans are designed...there is a purpose to sexual relations...to bring forth offspring and to continue the human race. In what environment? A balanced one, one where the mother cares for the infant and the father gets food or the roles are switched sometimes. "Mr. Mom" for example. Just look at the rest of nature for an example...eagles mate for life, along with other animals. What happens in the human world when one of the parents is missing? There's an imbalance, and we see the results...what family has a better chance of success? A single parent family, or one with two parents? It's the cold facts of life.

It's not what I want. It's the natural order of things. Each species was designed to bring forth more of their species, to continue the balance in the food chain, with the whole earth's ecology involved. Each species has a purpose...the dung beetle, the bats, we haven't quite figured out what mosquitos do yet.

This sounds like a moral argument to me. You are saying we ought to do what we were designed to do.

This has nothing to do with morals. What kind of fuel is a car designed to run on? What happens if you run water through the engine instead? Draw your own conclusion.

If you try to use water, the car won't run. Fine. This fails to answer the question of why you want it to run.

The decision to continue the species can be considered a moral one. The Cathars (Christian heretics in Southern France) considered this world to be evil, and so to continue to propagate the human species was also evil. To achieve their highest...salvation (? can't remember if that's the exact term), you had to forswear sex. Though in this worldview, homosexual relations would probably be all right, as they wouldn't propagate the species.

I should probably note that it was the Catholic Church that dubbed the Cathars 'heretics', and sent an army to get rid of them. One of the leaders advisors asked him how they were to tell the heretics from the 'true' believers. He said, "Burn them all. Let God claim his own."
