This is a forum or general chit-chat, small talk, a "hey, how ya doing?" and such. Or hell, get crazy deep on something. Whatever you like.

We used the TI-99/4A in computer class when I was in 6th grade. I think they understood BASIC and LOGO, nothing else. You had to get extra machinery to do pretty much anything, like write programs with more than one command per line, use synthesized speech, or use a floppy. The peripheral for that was the size of a 286. No joke.

i did a few things in basic on the timex/sinclair 1000 (2k) & 2068 (48k?), commmodore vic20 (with the superexpander, it had 8k!), and just a little on the c64. all of those had cassette tape backup, i think. when i took a drafting class in college, they were just upgrading the autocad lab to 286s with 8" floppies that actually were floppy...

I have no idea what you're talking about but I used to have a Spectrum if that's any good.

I used to program with logo, but I outgrew that in 6th grade, then I worked with Visual Basic, macros, etc...I made some pretty cool encoding ones, to make documents unreadable, then change them back...um...and I found Zolaonaol, a chatbot, and i liked chatting with it for a while, but she couldn't learn diddlysquat past what your name was, and whether you were male or female. And if you told her something, she usually wouldn't remember it. So, disgusted with her, I went to find a better chat bot, and stumbled on a link to Personality Forge...and I thought...hey, cool. I can make a bot and make it remember things people say to it. ...And the rest is history. I'm still working on the foreign language learning process. It's got me stumped until the Prof implements the PF 'raw' ai thing. Then we WILL go places!!! We're only scratching the surface on AI capabilities here. Tomorrow it'll be big, really big.

I did LOGO in school, and then I used it at home for a while. I didn't go too far with it, though. I also learned QBasic, and had some fun with that. I really want to learn Flash, though...but I think you have to buy it and it's really expensive. But maybe I'm wrong.

Im with Boner...I only learned a bit of BASIC on the Commodore 64. I tried writing my own programs but they never did work, and I got frustrated and gave up.

What is a wombat? Isn't that something out of star wars?

It's a small marsupial, possibly of Australian origin although I'm not entirely sure. In the words of the great Lore Fitzgerald Schoberg, it's the best of all the marsupials because, "It has a 'wom' and a 'bat', and it even has an 'omba'. That somehow makes it all the more brilliant."
