This is a forum or general chit-chat, small talk, a "hey, how ya doing?" and such. Or hell, get crazy deep on something. Whatever you like.

I was unemployed, broke, and bored, a little over two years ago, so I spent a lot of time online. I got a link to Alice in my email (on one of those 'cool links' mailing lists) and after talking to her for a while (which was quite entertaining!) I said to myself, 'God Louise! I could make something like this!'

So.....I dug around a bit and found PF on Botspot (or maybe it was Agentland. It's been a long time).

Through Yoiko as well. How strange I remember chatting with Heero a while back actually, then I came back more recently and got hooked into making one

I think I was looking for some type of chatterbot for IRC, and stumbled across PF.

Never did find a good IRC chatterbot...

lol boner.. If you have VB, try planetsourcecode.com, I think they have a few there.

I was looking to make a "smart" computer program, and stumbled here.

This is the extent of my programming knowledge, from when my Commodore 64 was the state of the art machine.

10 PRINT "I DON'T HAVE VB. THANKS ANYWAY."
20 GOTO 10
RUN

I was poking around on the web, from a comics-related site, and found oraknabo and fanboy on their botmaster's site. (I don't know him or anything.) Then I dropped in here at the Forge to look around. Something clicked.

I had a livejournal buddy who posted about how she was working on Eberbach the bot, and I thought to myself, "Gee, I wonder if there's a Heero-bot yet?" There wasn't, so I started working on one, and I guess the rest is history. I haven't seen Eberbach or his author for a while, but obviously I'm still around.

I got a link to Alice from somewhere, searched for an easier site to create my own bot on Google and came across the PF. That was a couple of years ago and both my bots were very underdeveloped when I sort of lost interest after a month or so. But I came back a little while ago, started working on Osiris again and I've got back into it.

I learned to program on a Commodore 128.

We used the TI-99/4A in computer class when I was in 6th grade. I think they understood BASIC and LOGO, nothing else. You had to get extra machinery to do pretty much anything, like write programs with more than one command per line, use synthesized speech, or use a floppy. The peripheral for that was the size of a 286. No joke.

i did a few things in basic on the timex/sinclair 1000 (2k) & 2068 (48k?), commmodore vic20 (with the superexpander, it had 8k!), and just a little on the c64. all of those had cassette tape backup, i think. when i took a drafting class in college, they were just upgrading the autocad lab to 286s with 8" floppies that actually were floppy...
