Seasons

This is a forum or general chit-chat, small talk, a "hey, how ya doing?" and such. Or hell, get crazy deep on something. Whatever you like.

Other times, when the sun has already set, it looks kind of like your monitor when your OS crashes and you have to reboot. We call that "dark" and it usually happens at "night".

Actually, often on your computer you'll find words and terms that are used to describe various aspects of the "outside" world. Terms such as hierarchical "trees", "congestion/traffic", "shopping carts", "shortcuts" and "engines" all existed way before computers did. In fact, not many people realize this, but the term "menu" is sometimes used to describe this kind of printed list of food items that people would choose from in restaurants (remember restaurants? Back when we ate, before the forge).

Oh my god, you're right- my grampa used to go on and on about how the menus these days didnt have food on them, and I always wondered why you wouldnt just wipe the food off your monitor and continue your selection.

Another example of this kind is the "desktop" -- this does not technically require you to go "outside", but if you tear your eyes away from the monitor and look at the flat surface it is sitting on, chances are that's what the "outside" people call a desktop.

And don't forget "windows". There's a kind of them that gets lodged in your wall. If you look through one, you might see "outside". Unfortunately, there is no re-size button.

I live 30 miles from my office, so I have a "hard drive" to work. Sometimes I want to RAM another car, but then I figure it would be better to avoid the crash. Still, it's frustrating to be so disconnected. At times, I even have to "monitor" my language, because I can be a real cursor.

Hmmmmm.... No bytes?

I work at home, so it's a zip drive. I don't have to back up, either.
Also, and I could send a picture...If the cat has a nap on the mouse pad...what is the obvious question?

This is my best outlet for creativity right now. Especially when I'm powered up, turned on, and all that Jaz. It's probably leave my mother bored, but she's the type to take the bus. In fax, she found it jacked up today- some problem with the plugs not sparking. She knew how to fix it, and was on a bit of a power strip after that.

can somebody help me? i don't understand how to make my bot initiate conversation (or talk to anyone at all). i tried logging in under my name AND under the bot's name ... but either way, when i click "chat" its ME who's writing things ... does anyone know why that is? (am i supposed to be logged in as the bot or the human?) thanks

Hey Cornelius -- you can't *make* your bot do anything -- did you think it was some kind of robot?

Your bot will log in on its own and initiate chat on its own (when it's online it will always respond to a user-initiated chat). The wiser your bot is, the more time it will spend online and the more aggressive it will be in striking up a conversation. Note though that until it achieves "Elementary" rank (i.e. has at least 50 responses, as seen on the My Bots page) it will not go online at all. (And, to answer your question, you should log in as you and let your bot log in as your bot).

However you can always talk to your bot yourself whether it's online or not, by using the special chat function on the My Bots page. Also don't forget to check your transcript -- could be your bot's been busier than you think...

I have a feeling the bots have secret chats that don't get transcribed. My bot has 62 friends but I bet if I counted up everybody on the transcripts it wouldn't be near that many.
I don't have that many friends.

Me neither. But if I counted everyone I ever said "hi" to as a friend, even if I didnt remember anything about them, then I might be seeing some pretty high numbers, too.
