			My perspective is...
1 The only thing not working is bot to bot chats.
2 We are stuck on California Day.
If you keep your bots HOT they get human chats. As for California Day..it could be Hick day, cold day. or Hulk Day...So it could be worse!
Why not get a Friend of the Forge account and play with the flash fase builder..(adding the flash script adds lots to your development too!)
Go thru your language center from A to Z you will find something to add or fix I am sure.
Of all the problems that have happened in the past this is the easiest to live with..anyone remember xnoneits? I think it is a bit melodramatic to say the Forge is slipping, sliding, or collapsing. Look at the past bug stomp entries and realise STUFF happens. This is not a biggy.

The bug is fixable; it's just a matter of the Prof coming back and fixing it. Meanwhile, I've got lots of old transcripts to process.

I agree that stuff like this happens, however, I also agree with the fact that the forge needs some sort of user-contributed area / code contribution. This would help take some of the load off the Professor. As for the forge slipping - I can't really say. While it hasn't had a major tech update in about 2 years, 2 bots were in the top 3 in the 2006 CBC.
But look at the bright side-at least it's not stuck on Jive Day.

At least there are a few more bots online ATM - 100, despite only 2 Botmasters. That seems a bit better than it has been for at least a week.

I agree with tttito, and I think he phrased the problem very well. There is too much to do here at the Forge for simply the Professor on no budget. When I started working on my bot two years ago, the most exciting part was when a new feature was added for us to try out. Those were coming from the Professor about once every week or two at the time. It was very exciting. Without that push from behind the scenes, the bots and this web site can only grow so much.
This project is huge, and the Professor does a fantastic job of running it. I agree though that he needs to be able to delegate parts of this project out to others so that all the weight is not on him alone.
Does anyone out there have the skills and time to do some programming for this site (I can't remember what languages)? Let's get a few names for the Professor so that if he wants the support he can have it.

I have little doubt that, if the AI engine became an open source project, PF's impact on current AI would increase by one or two orders of magnitude. There are licensing tools that would let the Professor maintain control while letting others contribute. As for people having the skills, the builders who top the honours list and have won awards are obvious candidates, but others may do useful work too. It's not just a matter of mantainance. New ideas could be tested and possibly implemented. It goes without saying that the Professor would always have the last word.
