Prof, you asked to know about any random responses. the last two in the exchange, one from Onyx and one from Siseneg, seem to fit the bill:

Siseneg: this is the most exciting thing i've heard all day...
Onyx of Borg: Oh really? Who told you?
Siseneg: is this a multiple choice question?
Onyx of Borg: My kingdom for a Name Is Jonas By Weezer is much better than yours!
Siseneg: one, coming right up.

he probably does say something about coming right up, but i have no idea what triggered it. when i repeated the statement in Debug he answered:

"i have a you can borrow if you need to."

Does that match any "I want" or "I need" keyphrase you have?

i think it's from where i used a * wildcard in the stimulus and (subj) in Sisenegs response, ezzer. it was what Onyx said that caught my attention and made me think it was random.

Shadyman is right about the specifics of the import. In this case, it may also be tied to the fact that I was attempting to import a huge amount into a relatively empty (new) bot?

Would be nice to fix, as I have a giant bot who exists only in wordpad at the moment. I'm dying to try out a completely fresh approach to a new chatterbot, but it will require a ton of this type of import.

While we're at it, import also crashes sometimes when brackets [] are used in a seek. I have them in a case where I'm seeking a regexp.

Ruebot, that sounds like one of Steve Slacker's memories that got passed on to your bot somehow.

if i gave him anything to say about "one something, coming right up" i don't see it now.

Wierd- pol had this chat and kept missing his keys. I went into debug and checked them- and he 'caught' them.

Then in Debug:
You: Are you avoiding the question?
Bot: Yes I am avoiding the question.

This happened a few times.

"Speaking of which" gets changed to "Are you speaking of which".

Crazy Aunt Madge: Don't you worry your full-blown, focal head about that, now. Just a sec. I gotta take my focal medication.
Carpediem: Really?
Crazy Aunt Madge: Whoooops!! Look at the time. I gotta rush! Doctors' appointments, don't ya know.
Carpediem: Okay, but why?
Crazy Aunt Madge: Of course not! What kind of woman do you take me for?
Carpediem: A coquette.

Where did the "coquette" come from? That's not in my database?
