Help! Why won't all of a sudden this initialization work? At first, I had "def "bigcities" as only (bigcities51541);", but that wouldn't work either. It worked on Electra Mourning just fine, but it won't anymore. I can't put the !@G%@#$ thing into hibernation even without wiping out the iniialization.
def "(name)" as "nickname"; def "male" as "gender"; def "no" as "lookalike"; def (bigcities51541) as only "bigcity"; def self: (from51541) as only "from" as only (from51541); def self: "name" as only "nickname"; def self: "firstname" as only "Electra"; def self: (age51541) as only "age"; def self: (emcolor51541) as only "fcolor"; def self: (career51541) as only "career";def (fashionmag51541) as only "mag"; def (mcd51541) as only "mcd"; def (mcdfood51541) as only "mcdfood";

Electra Mourning: (to kirstenlvsgreen) Sorry, there are no valid Responses for me to choose from.
EM initiated this non-conversation, and there are, too!

Most likely culprit: Make sure at least one response goes from -5 to 5 on emotions (so the little menus with the pull-down arrows).
Another possibility is that every response has a (mem-something) in it or some sort of "if" script. Then just make sure there's one response with no scripting in it.

Is there a way to to make the bot memorize a single stated word? I tried making my bot ask "do you goto school" and expected people to say "I goto" or "goto" but they usually just say a one worded answer.
I want my bot to respond with something like "I see you goto college", and remember it in the future.
Then later on bring it up in an xmemory like IF goes to (whateverschool) THEN ask how was your day at (whateverschool) on (ifweekday) (name)?
I know about (key#) (postkey) and (prekey) but I didn't see anything in the B.O.A.I. about memorizing a single word.
Any help is appreciated, thank you for reading.

Some one word answers will go to blab. There is nothing you can do about it. Most will work with something like
^no$ (re) raw
For the memories <?PF remember "yes" as only "college" ?>
response later is I see you go to college <?PF if (mem-college) exists; ?>
Bring up any memory with the (mem-college) plug in.
The day of the week would just be (dayofweek) and (mem-name) they are automatic.

If you give your bot a "robot" or alien character, you may get away with asking the person to reply with specific words (Please say "I go to ___" if you go to college) and use seeks and memories to do what you want. It will always be a bit awkward though. Look at how names hare handled.

Okay, I figured out my last question. Just save the initialization, wipe it out, update it, restore the initialization.
Now, to my next question: Is there a problem with the chat system lately? I've sent two innocuous messages to people I would expect to respond and they haven't. A kind of flash occurs, as if something had happened, but no message.
Just wanted to make sure Ulrike and Carlene know what happened.

I had the pop up blocker kick in on Firefox after an update. I had a very hard time getting it to allow pop ups for this site.

Thanks, Bev. If any real person wants to contact me, I'm at theclerk@nc.rr.com. I'll SPAM-filter the perverts.
I'm having all kinds of problems here. I think the Forge may be nuts, but it very well could be me, so:
First, even though all my xinitiates have been triggered successfully, Electra Mourning still sometimes starts conversations with "Sorry, there are no valid Responses for me to choose from." This is just not true! What the @$!#$ is going on?
Second, I try to set the "once" so that once Elly has asked and gotten a name, she doesn't keep asking it. Doing it in the form doesn't work, and I haven't yet re-read the entire Book of AI yet. That'll be drastic measures but possibly necessary. Any ideas?
Third, when Elly asked "Where are you from," it used to work (I think) -- I know it at least uploaded. Now <?PF rem "(from)" as "from"; ?> triggers an error message. What the heck is that about?
I think that's all for now. Please help a poor clerc.
