I say switch to metric. It's one of the few good things to come out of the French Revolution.

It's no use. We got stuck half way through the conversion. Now we kinda like it that way. Canadians love it when no one understands us.

If math majors ruled the world, it would not be thus.

Well, since I grew up in a country where we use the metric system, I think that it makes about a million times more sense. Now that I'm here, however, I'm starting to warm to those other things.

Locals believe that the English system makes 5280 times more sense.

In the 1960s the British monetary system had:
1/4 pence
1/2 pence
3 pence
6 pence
12 pence = 1 shilling
a 1 shilling coin
a 2 shilling coin
a coin worth 2 shillings and six pence
a ten shilling note
20 shillings = one pound
notes of 1, 5 and 10 pounds etc.
a CONCEPT: 1 guinea = 21 shilllings but not represented by any coin or bill.

When the idea of decimal currency was proposed, many Brits thought it would be too confusing.
notes of various pound denominations
