AIM can send an away message, so you can explain WHY you needed to be away for five minutes (if they really need to know that nature called or whatever).

yahhh... but I don't want them to know if I've gone.
A bot would do it because they only write one-liners, normally - "are you still there", "hey, what are you up to?" etc etc.

If you want specific favorites, you have to program specific keyphrases for them. See the Book of AI.
