That wouldn't help in conversations with humans, which is what we are really aiming for. Having bots pass each other coded triggers is cheating.

True, but what we would need then is a much bigger list of "goodbye" words, which even then wouldn't always work right, because "I have to go to the station tomorrow" would trigger "I have to go"

So always knowing when someone has to leave is beyond out bots' level of intelligence. That's okay.

but so if we know that we aren't going to get any better saying bye to a human, why not let our bots know when other bots are leaving? It isn't as if we would then be relying on a trick that won't work when we talk to a human.

Right, but the idea isn't to create bots that are really good just at talking to each other. Bot to bot conversations are supposed to be sort of like rehearsals for bot to human conversations. The bots try to imitate humans while trying to decipher human responses. If they have tricks for talking to each other, they won't get the practice. Maybe in this instance practice won't help, but it's the principle of the thing.

So when I create a private custom plug-in, and a number gets added to the end of the name, do I have to type that number to use the plug-in?

as far as I understand: everything you put in xgoodbye will be "understood" by another bot as "goodbye", even if it is hello... correct?
