Actually, "dumb" means "unable to speak" while "deaf" means "unable to hear".

I enjoyed this exchange:

I actually knew the exact meaning of deaf-and-dumb, I looked it up in my dictionary. I was trying to confuse the poor bot.

But deafness is a disease usually means you can't hear or speak, at least not well. I guess that would explain this misdefinition(I read the definition I gave in a dictionary).
