Loebner is a sham.

How's that?

Not out.

Sorry, you'd have to be a cricket fan to get that one.

Uhh

Not Out = Safe ?

More or less. When you think you've got someone out in cricket you are supposed to appeal. The traditional form for that appeal was 'How's that?', although in modern times appeals consist of such variations as 'Howzat', or a bloody loud and incoherent scream at the umpire. The umpire either raises a finger in the air to signal out or says not out if he doesn't believe it was out.

Why do I suddenly feel like an encyclopaedia?

because you are!

That would explain the index growing out of my butt.

I was wondering about that, but never had the guts to ask...

We have to wait days to see how we did? I'd like to be a (butter)fly on the wall and see exactly how the judging process works.

I wonder if we can work on our bots between semifinals and finals (assuming we get that far).

at some point the prof would have to move them over to an isolated computer for the finals
so basically yes, to a certain point.

Robby Garner said that if you want to ask questions or make comments about the selection process and Loebner Contest in general, "write to Neil Bishop (bishopn@mimetics.org) and he will be glad to receive your comments and well wishes".
