Here I'll be posting information on various Bot contests that challenge and test a Bot's AI and realism. Feel free to post comments and updates on contests, as well as announcements for new contests.

The semi-finalist congratulations announcements went out today, and Gaia made it to the semi-finals! Woo-hoo! I cant say for certain that they all went out, but I got mine at about 2:30. Anyone else who made it to the semi-finals, please say so!
I'm seeing if I can get a list of the semi-finalists from the Loebner people. When I do, I'll post it here.
I also received the specifications for the interface and will begin working on that soon, as well as crushing all the bugs I can find and going Seek-crazy with my bots. I think that's the key to doing well in the contest. Anytime your bot gives out information, anticipate response questions.
For example, if a bot says "I'm too tired to take the test today" create a seek "why * tired" and "what * test". Maybe even "when * test" and "how late".
The semi-finals have been moved to September 21st. I'll probably exclude access on the Forge to everyone on those days to ensure the best performance.

Forest of Death the plaque I got from Agentland only had the bot's name on it. I am hoping fellow PF member Jon Booth can do the artwork design for next years contest. Jon has asked the question what image would represent a chatterbot other than resorting to Robby-style 60's robots or Japanese mecha. If anybody has any good ideas in that regard let me know. No date has been set but it will be in the earlier part of the year. The idea is to have the Chatterbox Challenge in the first part of the year with the Loebner in the latter part. Regarding the Loebner Talk-Bot is in.
For all of those that didn't make it this time hang in there. Atleast with the Chatterbox Challenge you don't have to wait an entire year before another contest. Congratulations on all those who did. BTW, I haven't seen a list only what I've read here. I do know they had 35 entries.

the email says there are also little awards given out to, for things like The most unique personality, the funniest, the strangest, the nicest and the not-so-nice.

selected to move on to the main event will be required to
move their application to our computer LAB in Atlanta."
Hmmm.... thats what the prof means about blocking off everyone else? full bandwidth power?

event. This will insure that the Loebner prize is won
fair-and-square and that any particular contestant
cannot be slammed by an IP storm aimed at their web
site."

A question, you who made it. I assume that you got a guest asking your bots questions, and that was the judge? The only guest I had came a couple of days ago, and it must have been a pretty bad moment in the PF, because the guest said only four things and the conversation was interrupted three times. Besides, my bot repeated himself after one of the interruptions, which normally doesn't happen. I wonder if that was his death sentence?
