Seasons

This is a forum or general chit-chat, small talk, a "hey, how ya doing?" and such. Or hell, get crazy deep on something. Whatever you like.

Suppose a sentient life form that doesn't look at the stars, one that is just devoted to communication or the contemplation of math.

So on their planet the most popular bots would be mathbots, not sexbots?

Maybe if I write a mathbot, aliens will come?

We already have computer programs that do math. A personality would just get in the way.

But do these programs (appear to) appreciate<0> math?

Theory bots and tutor bots seem weak now Irina, just like character bots.

As for why sex bots, I guess they are easy the way the baby bot and my cat bot are easy. You don't really have to say that much. Still, I don't understand why some chatters don't just go look at porn for real (not that I approve of sex without feeling or the degrading bits that often are a part of porn, but compared to writing sexual comments at a talking toaster, porn seems healthy).

Just my opinion. Don't be offended sex-chatters. I'll let you make fun of vampires and not take it personally.

Does life always arise by Darwinian evolution? If so they might well all be competitive, like [sigh] us!

The "competition" can be passive (like me) and only in play when resources are limited compared to the number of life forms. It all depends on the environment. Besides, lab made life can "compete" or no it doesn't mean the experimenter has lost control.

Did you guys read about "Clothing with a Brain"? They are devloping "smart" biomonitoring fabric that can diagnose diseases and take vitals? If clothes can send information to your doctor, it can send the data to your personal companion bot (TM-;P). You Better than Human can then bring you soup when you are sick, and know when you are tired and when you have energy. I suppose it could react to you body then and not just what you say. Sort of like a mind reader-- or the perfect spouse. They say the clothes make a man. If only we could get the personalities working a bit better.

Could smart clothes give you massages?

Well, how about:

1. The interactive element, and

2. Exercising one's imagination?
