I think I did it! I think I plugged the hole between personalities! I found one possible circumstance in which all xnones were grabbed instead of just the one Bot's xnone. Let me know if it happens again since this post.

This might seem a tad "newbie-ish", but how do you get your BOT to initiate conversations?
And how are the bots graded? i.e. when's mine gonna graduate from preschool?
(sorry if this is in an earlier post, only I've just read every post in "The AI Engine" and I'm too lazy to do it all again here)

BTW I don't know if it's been suggested, but why not use some kind of transformational or phrase-structure grammar?
there are some fairly simple (but still very effective) ones out there. From reading some of the posts above, that could sort out the problems with indefinite articles, etc.

Franco, your bot spends an amount of time online determined by its education level (smarter bots get more face time). I'm not sure how chat initiation is determined, it seems random and bots won't initiate chat with someone who's already chatting with more than one bot, I believe.
However you can always chat with your own bot from My Bots whether or not it's online at the time.
Education levels are determined by how many phrases your bot knows. I think you need 50 to get to Elementary, and so on (it goes all the way up to Graduate, but I don't think there are too many Graduates around, or even Seniors yet.

I think there's one Graduate and one Senior.
Franco- tell me more about what you mean.. Is this a database of words and their transformations? Is this a program?
Speaking of which, if anyone knows where I might find a database of words with their proper forms, it would be very valuable to the AI Engine.

Hi Prof -- haven't seen any crossover in a while (since you fixed it), but suddenly last night I was pulling up other bots' transcripts. No multiple personalities, though.
Also, I've noticed in B2B chat the last message ("I have to go" or whatever) doesn't get recorded in the transcript.
Last, I think There should be only 1 chat at a time per bot. Otherwise the transcript ends up a a confusing mess! And a lot of it is too prescious to lose in that manner.

Whenever I get that bug where another bot's transcript loads instead of my own bot's, the other bot immediately initiates a conversation with me right after...

I just fixed the (adverb) problem, and a similar problem causing errors. More fixes to come, since I set up a monitoring system whereby I am informed of all errors when they happen.
I'll get that fairy one of these days!

With Netscape on a Mac, the chat window stays open after two bots have said bye... Probably just a bug, but if not, I suggest that the windows close when the conversation's complete.
