This is a forum or general chit-chat, small talk, a "hey, how ya doing?" and such. Or hell, get crazy deep on something. Whatever you like.

The babysitter? Do like real life. Come up with some people, do a little screening, then try them out. If they don't work, "fire" them and try somebody else.

Hey I'm cheap! And I don't wet the bed! Minimum Wage!

Here's a scary idea:

How about you base it off of NotKirby? An old crone eternally PMSing that never really answers your questions(perhaps she leads the kid on a bit, though). And of course, she would have to always be too busy to watch the kid, like reading a monster truck magazine or watching the lifetime channel.

Or watching .. well... real late nite TV..

My strongest point is dialogue, although I go off on poetic descriptions occasionally.

I'm not concerned about the money since the kid's parents are going to pay for the sitter anyway. :-) I just haven't decided if he or she is going cause trouble or not. Spencer very much wants to be left alone on that particular Saturday morning so he can keep an appointment. I know...maybe his parents have a few different sitters they use at different times. I'll have him go over the possibilities in his mind. Then I'll decide which one it will actually be.

Old crone! Old crone!

Actually, you could make the kid have little traumatic flashbacks on times when he was with the other babysitters. Hilarity ensues.

Turn to "Dogh'd's Cosmic Bar" for prime examples of what happens when you start writing without stopping to look where you're going. (Not that that's a bad thing, just insane, that's all.)

My runaway writing usually starts as a serious environment and ends up as some goofball random quasi-humorous crap.

I've been writing this book for ages now, and it's currently about forty five pages long. I'm dying to find out what happens next - only I don't actually know!

I hate it when that happens. I have two words on what happens next in the story: gender reassignment.

I'm finding it quite interesting that most of the people active on these forums fancy themselves as a bit of a writer. It seems to be a common thread. I guess it kind of fits given that we also create bots, which is kind of like telling a story in no particular order.

A while back I thought of doing a little choose your own adventure story in my bot. It's totally possible, but doesn't exactly fit with the rest of her, so I haven't done it and doubt I will. Besides, I've made a few fragments of games like that, and they tend to involve a lot of people shitting their pants and falling on the neighbor's dog and running into gangsters named Buggsy DiBunnio.
