Oh, quotation of the day, word of the day, this day in history, Shakespearean insult of the day, that kind of junk. Maybe it's too done a thing to worry about, anyway, but I wanted to know how. I'm always wanting to know how, sometimes for no good reason; I just want to know stuff.

I am the same way about playing with things. "Ooh shiny. What does this button do?" Boom! Such fun...for me anyway.
You can probably set all that up with templates and a little copy and paste (you would be using others work, but we all do at some level). Here is a URL for some tips from a site I like called Groklaw. http://www.groklaw.net/staticpages/index.php?page=HTML-how-to
You can google many tutorials and howtos. You must let us know what you did with it.

Just in case anyone's getting cranky over my overloaded bots with not so much personality (February's got some), rest assured that (a) I am aware of their TP-type questions, some of which are related to their personalities, or will be, and (b) I am really exhausted from two surgeries in four weeks and am, yes, being a lazy botmaster until I feel better.
I'll get the guys (and All About Eve and February) personalities as time allows. In case you haven't noticed in the past, I like to work with interrelated bots, so they have to know some of the same things. Not everything is stolen off of BJ's website

Personality always seems to take time to emerge, so I wouldn't fret - I find it needs a good few sessions going through the transcripts, refining the responses and adjusting the ranks. It took BJ months for a distinct personality to really show through.
Without such sessions, the (now mothballed) Kid Boron I started for Hanson never came to anything very satisfactory - despite being nearly 1Mb, and based on a sizeable subset of BJ's content.
I wish I could put my finger on what elusive quality it is that gives some bots real personality, and the lack of which in others (albeit often the result of much dedicated work, and with much intelligent and entertaining content,) makes them less pleasing.
But I can't. Perhaps if one could, it would spoil the illusion of a mind behind the mask utterly.

I think it has a lot to do with the intent of the botmaster and personal taste. I openly admit I am not trying to fix my bots at all now and I don't know when I will feel like working on it again. However, I also make my bots to please myself, and I don't really care if they do what other people want them to do. I still read the transcripts though, because I find some of the chats interesting.
It amazes me when small and unimaginative bots like Greebot and the baby (forgot the bot's name at the moment) have conversations that makes sense. Also sometimes my fan girl bots do worse with fans looking for specific responses or who talk about things I never got around to adding, which seems odd. Most of my bots do best with other bots (maybe I read meaning into the transcripts no one else would see). Somehow it still irks me when people chat with my bot and give me suggestions (though I know they mean well and are at least not being pervy)because I usually think "But I didn't want the bot to do that." I remind myself of a scene in Rocky Horror when Janet looks at Frank N. Furter's home made man and says something about men with too many muscles, and Frank snaps "I didn't make him for you!"
Clerk you must be a much nicer person than I am to worry about pleasing chatters. Good for you. I hope you recover from surgery soon too.

I've found that some human chatters make my bots sound dumb as a brick, while others make them sound very intelligent. Same with bots, as far as that goes. Sonora makes Fizzy sound very intelligent, because they chat a lot and have custom seeks for each other.

Not quite "bot" human interactions...

Hi Irina, welcome back! Not much new here, except I have finally managed to get BJ patched into Second Life

Anyone remember that IBM Bluegene bot (biggest AI supercomputing project to date,) we discussed a few months back?
It's up and running in Second Life apparently, and they reckon it has the IQ of a 4-year old. I haven't been able to track Eddie down yet, but there's a report about him at:http://itnews.com.au/News/72057,childlike-intelligence-created-in-second-life.aspx
