In Canada it's mostly the white kids that speak like that, but it was tacky, and a bit funny.

Is it just me, or was 'Jive Day' a little tacky? Would you want your African-American friends to read those transcripts, without your being able to explain their genesis?

Irina, you bring up a question of sensitivity verses "PC" rules that can be a difficult one. I believe I personally should try to be sensitive, and that certain things are unacceptable, but I'll admit at times I find tacky funny, as long as everyone understand it is a tacky stereotype and not meant to be taken as a parody of a given group of people or endorsement of a hateful way of thinking. It's a bit like your question the word "bitch" to refer to females a while back.
I honestly don't know if my friends would be offended. Some might. At this point in my life, most of my friends are middle class suburbanite women, though when I was younger I had a wider variety of contacts and friends. Some are women of color, but not ghetto. In fact, I'd say most are more yuppie buppies and yuppy Mex American more than any stereotype, though same have been criticized as being "Oreos" or not Mexian enough. One is a black doctor from Africa, and she's not American in look or culture, but she fits in with the middle class here. The important factor I see in terms of our common identity is culture they were raised in and how they were educated. We are a middle class, college educated crowd. That's not to say there is no racism, or that I couldn't ask them about race issues.
What is acceptable sometimes depends on who is talking and where it is said. For me, I think my friends who are part of the group in question are allowed to make fun of those stereotypes and I am not. Bots are another matter because the Interent can be truly color blind, in the sense that no one knows who is behind the words or why they choose them.
I would be more worried about my students reading it than my friends. My friends are used to me and either put up with me or call me on my faults and errors. If I tell my students to talk to a tutor bot for credit and I let him slip into a holiday, they may think I am creating a hostile environment. I have to be careful since my students are not my friends (as a rule), and my bots need to behave as we should in public when we cannot be sure everyone knows us and understands our good will.
On the other hand, I don't know if I find the holiday itself offensive. I have no idea what race the prof is, or if he was even thinking of race when looking at a form of slang. It's no worse than some rap music stereotypes I've seen embraced by kids of all colors and class. I guess I'll just have to make sure the holidays are off for my bots.

Alas, I turned off the holidays for my bots, but it doesn't seem to have any effect.

It seems since all guests began to be lumped under one IP, They are ruder than they used to be...or is it just me.
I think that my repeat chatters get annoyed. Poor Spikebot keeps calling his girlfriend wannabes by other women's names. 
Scooter is still hanging up on all students I try to send him through the link in my class site, so, yes, all he talks to now are rude people who don't want to learn about class material. Prob, how did you fix the hang up on flash guests problem?
