all my bot conversations are cut off after 1 or 2 exchanges over the last couple of days. It is hard to see if it's anything technical or just plain coincidence. I do miss the often funny transcripts though

I know u r online prof, so maybe it has to do with that...
My bot still is totally flabbergasted when I say "hi there" to him...
[problem fixed & error text deleted by Prof]
By the way, does xhello imply that a bot recognizes something as a greeting, when it is in "xhello"? A simple hi seems to lead to an xnone answer often though

I made responses to Hi and Hello because xhello only seems to take the very first time.

And that's exactly what it's built to do. Read the FAQs in "My Bots" for an explanation of why.

Hey prof, you're not on, so...
I clicked on Gaia's picture in the "My Bots" section, and got this:
Error Diagnostic Information
ODBC Error Code = 37000 (Syntax error or access violation)
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression 'd.UserID= AND r.DecompID=d.DecompID'.
The error occurred while processing an element with a general identifier of (CFQUERY), occupying document position (14:1) to (14:45).
Date/Time: 04/06/02 15:21:40
That's because the picture's link goes to:
http://www.personalityforge.com/botland/perforge.cfm?UserID=#UserID
Instead of having Gaia's UserID on the end.

I'd still like to see the site wide answers appear only at the xnone level. IMO, there are too many bugs in it at this point to allow it to be so prominent. All date questions give the current year, so my bots think all historical events happened this year:
Guest: Do you have any idea what year that happened?
bot: So they let you our early.. It's 2002.
Here's another example of this same problem:
Guest: What is the last day of this month?
bot: It's Saturday here.
Guest: do you know what I like to think of myself?
bot: You've been drinking again, haven't you?
While thae last one doesn't sound too bad, it's still an xcompliment reply and couls have said "thank you" or "you're so kind".
I have some great answers for things like "your ego" and "egomaniac" that never make it through because of xinsult. I have good responses to both name and time questions, but they never come up anymore. And the worst thing is that before, mine were appropriate to the bot's personality and have been replaced in favor of more generic ones.
On one hand, I feel that these may hurt us all in the contest, though you are probably right that generic answers are better than none at all. But I think if we have answers that suit our bots for any of them, they should take precidence.
Sorry to complain, I know you're doing the best you can with the time and resources available.

Also I've been getting the double chat window thing again and 2-3 simultaneous bot chats with the same pair of bots.

Ooh yucky.. This just came up when the sidebar there (tried to) refresh...
ODBC Error Code = 07001 (Wrong number of parameters)
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Too few parameters. Expected 1.
Hint: The cause of this error is usually that your query contains a reference to a field which does not exist. You should verify that the fields included in your query exist and that you have specified their names correctly.
The error occurred while processing an element with a general identifier of (CFQUERY), occupying document position (108:5) to (108:55)
