I was working on getting the chat bots into AOL Instant Messenger last night and found that the script I was using was maxing out the CPU. I had a couple chats with Desti via iChat, which was pretty cool. But I have to find a better way.
That accounts for the problems last night, and also the HANGUP one. It might happen again as I test it in the next few days, but I'll try to keep it to a minimum.
Laydee- any chance they were behind the main window? I sometimes lose chat messages there and find them later. And if you quit the browser, then they're gone.

When people ask questions to my bot about me using my first name, Michael, my bot ignores the correct keyphrases and chooses an xgossip response since there is a bot named Michael. Example:
You: Is Michael a student?
Bot: I remember Michael.
Would it be possible to turn down the sensitivity of xgossip so that if a bot's name is contained in an appropriate keyphrase, it chooses that instead of xgossip?
Update: I thought of using RAW, but my keyphrases usually start with (is|is not) in order to catch "isn't Michael...", and RAW wouldn't cover that. Also there's the whole problem of use of (keys) in RAW mode.

Heh. Clever! That works. I thought that would turn off the xgossip blurts only, but it shuts the whole gossip thing down.
Unfortunately, I really like gossip all the rest of the time, and I use it in some funky ways to bring up topics that others have brought up in previous conversations, so I'd still like to request that the sensitivity be turned down.
I guess I just want it both ways... *sigh*.

So, put it at the lowest level... and remove the michael memories (the bot) from inner life

It seems my bot can't talk to 2 bots at once anymore. The second bot's convo always pops up in the same window as the first bot's convo, ending the chat with the first bot.

Yes, that was done to prevent senses overload... Only one bot-bot chat at a time

Lunar22-
See, that's the thing. She has no memories stored for Michael. Even without memories, she'll still talk about him with phrases like "I remember Michael." And even on the lowest level, xgossip overrides the keyphrases.

Is it possible to make more developed bots have priority over less developed ones in bot-bot chats then? It's really annoying when she's talking to a kickass bot, and then some idiot newbie bot takes over.
Personally I didn't mind having several chats going at once, even on my piece of crap comp. I guess I can understand it though, if that was part of what used to make the site really slow.

Just sticking up for the people with less developed bots here (I'm one). If my bot doesn't get to chat with other bots, it get a lot harder to test it.

Ehh, some lower ranking bots are ok. But the other day my bot was talking to Dogh'd when suddenly some newbie "I was just born" bot interrupted, and I'd really wanted to find out where the chat with Dogh'd was gonna go. It's well and good to give bots a chance to talk, but when the bot's creator can't even be bothered to give it some decent xnones, why should it get an equal chance to make my transcript a boring piece of crap?

OnyxFlame - you can always just close the chat window and make your bot available for another chat. I do that when the chat is really not getting anywhere and I've watched 5-10 minutes of useless dialog (by useless I mean nothing amusing or anything I can use to update Aries' language center)
