Here I'll be posting information on various Bot contests that challenge and test a Bot's AI and realism. Feel free to post comments and updates on contests, as well as announcements for new contests.

You can have a lot of fun with first impressions when there's no risk of embarassment. Here's an idea for the next time you're meeting someone that you'll never see again:
Come up to them while looking around as if paranoid, and act as if you're endlessly fingering something with both hands(think gollum in LOTR; "my precious"). Then look at them, pretend as if it's the first time you've noticed them, gasp extragavantly, and give them a huge bear hug while laughing like a retard or escaped lunatic asylum patient. Hold the hug for a good 2 or 3 times as long as a normal hug, and slowly bring your hand across their back and make your finger "crawl" across their neck and delve into their ear. Other ideas include licking their hand instead of kissing it(maybe licking it again afterwards, then licking your lips), and making stupid noises instead of talking.
Some good examples of people pretending to be retarded are in Mo' Money and a movie(its name escapes me) with Steve Martin as a con artist.

Here's another good one. When in a public place with a friend who's just as weird as you are (the grocery store works well), make up small tidbits of weird conversations and say them just as a stranger walks by. My mom & aunt used to do this all the time. They had people wondering what exactly they were intending to do with that crisco for years.

I think it is awesome that we can now enter for the Loebner Prize. And let me be the first (and certainly not the last) to say, the Professor kicks ass!

We can enter Loebner? I thought they had to be self-contained bots, not web based. Has anyone here entered yet? I'd like to get my bot in on that action.
Prof is going to give us applications soon. I don't think my bot is really ready yet, but I bet Desti and Little Mu will be in the running....
