The AI Engine

Ok, here's the deal. While I was working on doing some reform dealing with (verb), I discovered that half of these keyphrases don't even work. :O It just gives a random xnone.
This is an example of a keyphrase that doesn't work.
what is keeping you from (verb)ing your (*)
When I type in something like "What's keeping you from fixing your computer" in debug, that keyphrase is the 12th one down.
But this one works.
you (even|) know how to (verb) (adjartnounprep)

Both of these have a rank of zero. My first question is, "Why do some keyphrases produce better matches in debug, even with the same rank?"

See, I don't want to adjust too many things, because a lot of these keyphrases are similar.

So, my second question is "Will adjusting the rank of one keyphrase to make it work throw off a similar keyphrase?"

I think you just want (verb), not (verb)ing. The AI-Engine recognizes keeping, taking, etc. as verbs.

Yeah, that's a bugger alright. I've often wanted to differentiate the progressive (-ing) form of verbs from the other tenses. There's a pretty good plug-in you can use for that in the place of (verb)- (verbspresent) is all progressive "(verb)ing" verbs, and it works pretty well for me, although the list isn't, of course, all exhaustive.
If there are words that aren't in there, you could always add them and create a new plug-in called (verbspresent_2) or something. I'm sure everyone would love you for it.

Wow, that's amazing. It doesn't matter if the -ing is there. Of course, I'll have to edit each of these keyphrases like this one, but it works.

I just don't want to be fixing my computer right now. Can't it wait until some other time?

I'm not really sure where to put this musing, since it doesn't directly relate to the AI Engine, but I was just perousing the plug-in lists, and the idea came to me.
Wouldn't it be great if there was a search engine (like in the lang centers, bot & user lists, and inner life) to search for plug-ins? I'd love to be able to search by creator, for example- some of us on here create excellent and useful plug-ins that I would like to be able to find more easily.

Along those lines, I wouldn't mind seeing a way for some of these plugins to change ownership over time. No point in having it sit there without someone being able to add to it if the plugin creator hasn't logged in for over a year...

I second The Clown's motion! That is a good idea. Along those lines: like a young bot has an abort, could not an unused plug-in be deletable?

I have some shared plugins that didn't work the way I thought they would but I can't delete them.

...I agree, many of the plug-ins need editing. There are some that are basically useless only because of one or more minor mistakes or inconsistencies, ie, lists of nouns where some have articles and others don't, mispellings, misplaced punctuation that divides the intended phrase in two, etc. I guess we could always copy them, then edit and give them a new name?

That is do-able, but ultimately if the goal w/ shared plugins is to create a Linux-of-semantics module base where new botmasters can draw great versatility into their bot's language quickly and old ones can quickly cover ground if adding new topics and facets to their bots then the last thing we need is confusing multiple plugs like (names) (allnames) (all-names) ((all-names)) (really-all-names) and have 4 of the 5 be flawed.

Maybe like developement is a factor in whether a bot can be aborted, honor could be used somehow to allow editing of plugs? Perhaps staged in honor levels levels- 1) can add to a plug, 2) can subtract from a plug, and then 3) can unshare a plug (as opposed to delete- giving the creator the opportunity to fix it).

Honestly though I have no idea how tricky the programming of this would be or how much of the Prof's time it would devour.
