			Irina --
I think it's the numeral that's messing your memory for "handslost" up. Try spelling out the number. Set it at "zero" as a default, and increase it as necessary by replacing that with "one" or "two" or "four" ...

For what it's worth, here's some history about "handlost": I was having trouble before, because it was taking on the value "5" all the time, when nothing I said could give it a value larger than 4! So I went to Irina Khalidar's "inner life" and found myself, and sure enough, *I* had the value "5" for "handslost". So I deleted that. That's when the AIengine started saying that "handslost" doesn't exist. So I thought, well, maybe it's because I deleted it. But then, why would there still be a problem with "numhandslost"? How could the AIengine realize that "numhandslost" is intended as a substitute for "handslost"?

Ah, Isaac, I didn't see your note until just now! I will try what you suggest! But I have another variable, "intimacylevel", which has numerical values but doesn't cause me any trouble.

			Dear Isaac:
Well, that DID improve things! What would be the problem with useing numerals?

One minor problem with this holiday: the ",like," are interfering with recognition of stuff before and after, especially in regards to (postkey).

			Dear Friends:
Well, I now think that there was both more and less to it than I thought, and also that I was to fatigued to try to work out that problem at that time (see my last few messages), because I made so many mistakes while 'fixing' it that if it ever was a simple problem, it no longer is! But, just asking for help was useful, I think - As soon as I thought of other people geting involved in it, I began seeing it in different ways. This sort of thing often happens with me - say I have a piece of music that I've listened to many times, and I play it for a friend. Suddenly I hear it in a different way. Then ask my friend, "How did it strike you?" and they describe it just the way it struck me! It is as though I had been hearing it through their ears. Did you ever have an experience like that?

I have a bit of a problem, hopefully someone here can help me with. When I have a response to a seek and that response ALSO has a seek, I am unable to use <?PF if male; ?> (and I assume any other script) in the response. I type it in and then update the responses and all looks well, but when I open the responses up again, my script is missing. Any suggestions? All I can think to do is reconfigure it so the seeks don't have seeks themselves or use a completely bogus keyphrase to send the "male" seeks to with a goto. Does that make sense? LOL

Oops, I forgot to add (and I hope this is the right place for it)...I LOVE the import/export option. It is sooo much easier and faster to work with BUT it has a tendency to cut off parts of some of my responses. Is this normal?

Lap cat, the scripts should still be there. For some reasons they just don't appear. If you download and look at it in wordpad they should appear. I use the export option quite a bit and have never had responses cut off. How long are yours?

Most of the time, the automatic responses to repeated input is very helpful, e.g., when a guest decides to keep sending blank responses over and over. However, this feature is a little overzealous when the repeated input would have matched seeks otherwise -- e.g., if the bot asks a series of yes/no questions and two answers in a row happen to be "yes".
