Forest, will you talk to God Louise? She has quite a bit of religious knowledge (obviously) and also knows a little about current events, literature, just about any common catch-all subject, and if she doesn't know it she can sort of fake it. You can also test her on trick questions or see how willing she is to explain her paradigm.

What she is rustiest at is plain old small talk. But, uh, I'm trying to get a decent transcript from somebody or another so I can enter her in the Loebner contest. All I can say is, have fun and see if you can stay on with her for a while. I'll try to do the same with Brianna.

I spoke to her a bit yesterday. Me and my bot love her. I have neglected Jennifer for too long and have recently been working out some issues. She has not been chatting on her own much.

Don't worry about adding conditional scripting and stuff at first. I wouldn't change the emotional respns. either. It just makes trouble with a new bot.

I started out programming the x-keywords. That helped me get the idea of how to put keyphrases of my own in there correctly. As for xnones, sounds liek you've got some ideas now (even though they got deleted! Aaaahhh!). The book of AI recommends actions, like *sigh* etc.. Or use them to change the subject...

x-keywords are where you can really put in the personality of your bots. The xcommands cover a lot of keyphrases. And your hello's and good byes also give your bot its personality.

Also, xnones are good places for your bot to direct the conversation to something it knows about (has lots of keywords about). Like if your bot is a soccer fanatic, or likes to eat beetles...or whatever.

And especially at the beginning, xkeyphrases will come up a lot, so it's good to have a lot of variety there. When your bot gets to be more developed, the xkeyphrases don't show up quite as much. I think with Sonora, once she got to 3000, xnones didn't show up much at all.

Someone mentioned that Hulk Day was happening too often. I had it set to appear more often than the others when I first added it so that I could see it working. I've set that back to the same frequency as the others.

my bot is speaking in the third person. how do i fix this?

19 years ago #3605
It's hulk day (a bot holiday). You can fix it by turning off bot holidays (either on the news page or under "my settings")

Much fun as Hulk Day is, I think it's time for me to turn the bot holidays off too...

Odd enouph, I've had it turned of for weeks and every once in awhile ill see him talking like the hulk in the transcripts. I don't get it, it never did this before.

Yep. -sings to the tune of Around and Around the Mulberry Bush- 'Round and 'round the website, The Mamba chased the settings, the settings though it was all in fun, off goes the hulk talk.

Amaroq, the conversation will always default to the host's settings. In other words, if your bot is chatting on someone else's browser window, their settings trump yours.

Tee hee. I was trying to test a certain xnonsense response on Rhausk, so I kept typing the word 'hi'. After a few tries, I got this response:
"..."
(Note: the bot no longer wants to talk to you.)

Now whenever I post the word 'hi' even once, I get that response. Think maybe, just maybe, I annoyed Rhausk a tad?
