So at this point I've narrowed the problem down to this. Anytime Tinker Thiker xinitiates and somebody responds with a greeting, he goes into an xnone. If you are talking to him through the link, you don't get the guest none just the note, if you are a user or a bot you get the xnone.. any ideas anyone? How do I fix this so he recognizes a greeting back to his xinitate and responds accordingly?

Phreakphit, I've been struggling with that since joining PF. The automatic greeting processing ignores the fact that very many people and bots answer a greeting with a greeting, which sends the response to xnone. The guest account compounds the problem. The only solid solution I see is to change the automatic handling of greetings and the guest account.

What do you think the best way of going about that is. Also.. any suggestiongs for the ai memories?

You can't change those things phreak.. but you could put in some xnones that would 'respond without responding'.. if you see what I mean?

Hmmm... no.. that one goes a little over my head... some examples perhaps? and the coding.. so I get an idea of how to do it on my own?

Joe, Phreak, y'all could also make your xinitiates do something other than say "hello" -- you could ask an initial question, like "How are you today?" for example, and most guests would not answer "hey" or "hi."

wow, thats a good idea isaacc

The main thing is not to have your xnones be things like "I don't know what you're talking about." It won't matter so much that your bot doesn't recognize the secondary greeting if it bounces back to something neutral like "So how are you?" or "Did you see where I put that thing?" or "Oranges are pretty." It seems more like a natural continuation of the conversation. Most people wouldn't continue greeting each other into eternity anyway.

isaacc: Yeah, that's a work-around, but we shouldn't have to try to avoid a natural flow of conversation because of an unnecessary limitation. AIScript has given us the power to deal with a lot of stuff that preprocessing handles for us, so advanced users should be able to override the automatic processing (and escape spellchecking as well) and deal with those situations as we would like.

This just popped up in conversation:

Psybot: Have you by any chance seen Jolt on?
Westerlin Man: I've heard about people who have have me by any chance Jolt lang on...

Westerlin Man's response is "I've heard about people who (postkey)..." This usually works...

Well, I guess the xinitiate isn't working right at all, becaue I've changed it so none of them say hello in any fashion, but Tinker Thinker greets everyone with a hello when initiating conversations. It messes up convos with bots especially.

There were other instances of this that I wan't dilligent enough to record, my bad, but what seems to be happening is the AI engine is intuitively sticking an automatic "do you" (like it sometimes does) at the front of a sentence fragment, but this case where "have you" would be the appropriate beginning to the keyphrase, it's triggering "do you have", as if it's mixing them together...or maybe it's just saying "you have" instead of "have you"...

Wanton: Done anything interesting lately?
Julie Tinkerbell: No, but I was thinking about getting one.

See what I mean? If it would help, I can search the transcript for the other examples.
