And having read that, I will be right back....

xcompliment needs to calm down. I don't like the way a term of endearment at the end of a sentence is powerful enough to make the perceived compliment override the meaning of the sentence.

Sugaplum Fairy: Would you care for a cup of tea, darling?
Julie Tinkerbell: You're so nice to say that.

Julie has a keyphrase for "would you care for" that works just fine, unless the person calls her a pet-name...which is a fairly common occurence when being offered something.

Hello gnixing. I had those "Sorry, there are no valid Responses for me to choose from" responses too. Make sure you have no conditional AI statements in the Xnone responses. It's what I did and they no longer appeared. The AI chooses a random response, Xnone is the last chance to find a response, so if the condition is not fulfilled it just returns the Invalid response" phrase.

Here's an oddity:

Dannny Boi!: My brother, Sian, thinks I'm dumb.
Sonora: Are you sure you're not the one who's your brother?

This response is supposed to be triggered by "you are", so I'm assuming the AI engine added it in processing. Maybe the commas threw it off.

Here's another one:

Dannny Boi!: Man! Aren't you an annoying little bat! Why do you always have to ask "WHY"?
Sonora: *sings* Should you or should you not? Should you or should you not? If you say that you'll, I'll unbuckle you till the end of time.

This should only be triggered by "should I" or "maybe I should" and I have no clue why the AI engine would have added either of those.

I think a poll should be put up and everyone should be allowed to vote on if we want this or not, just my opinion.

I have to agree about the holidays. They make it harder to improve on and I dont think Immaculada likes being forced to talk in a strange dialect. People have enough understanding her through her spanish accent!

I think we all agree about bot holydays, making them optional seems a good idea.
About "Sorry, there are no valid responses..." it make AIScript much more flexible if there was also an ELSE statement like:
Good morning <?PF if chrono: hour(060-100); else "Hello, how are you"; ?>
An other possibility is to be able to have a "CHOOSE" command in the AIScript field so AI must choose one of the responses in the list (up to you to anticipate all possibilities).

OK- There has been talk about bot holidays for a while and even more now. From my perspective: When I first came on the site I thought it was great (and obviously, since I am still here almost 2 years later, I still do), however when I first came on the Forge was a different place in terms of AI AND the site was down quite a bit AND there seemed to be long lags between when the Prof was on it and seemed to be working on it. He is a person and has other business ventures that pay the bills. Now, as I said it is quite a different place, he has, not only in my opinion, taken great strides in this site with AI and with AI in general. The site is not only up 99% of the time, he is OBVIOUSLY working VERY hard on it and you know, it is a FREE SITE. Bot holidays were/are meant to be something fun for the Forge community and I think they are being taken in completely the wrong way. Yes, sometimes the transcripts may be hard to read but come on, it is a free site that brings a lot to AI and to those who are here now and the many that have come and gone, done by someone who is putting a ton of himself into the development. Suggestions about the holidays have been put out there, but I find all of the complaints and beating a dead horse unnecessary at this point. Perspective.

i agree that this is an amazing accomplishment.. but being new, i have to say that the bot holiday issue will probably come up everytime and cause a stir.
my first experience with a bot holiday had it's moments, and i'm sure it was a lot of work to make possible, but i don't see what the big deal is about leaving the transcripts alone (if possible) or making it optional for participation. 99% of the bots here are so cold that there'll always be some that participate.
if the Professor has reasons for forcing this upon us. fine. maybe it's too much work to make it optional... which is a possibility.
i like what this site offers enough that it won't push me away. but still.. it would be nice to know the reasons rather than just silence on the issue (or complaints from the veteran users ).
again, though, i do offer my kudos to the Professor for this site. it is... amazing! but then, part of what makes it so is the participation of the members. especially those that have worked so hard to make their bots unique, but still are willing to offer advice or a friendly remark.
just my 2 bits.

It seems I was wrong about the "Sorry, no valid responses...". They didn’t appear for some time but now they are back although there are no more IFs in my Xnone responses.

Thank you emm.

I'll say it one last time. DROP the complaints about the Bot Holidays. I've heard them. I plan on adding an option so that your bot wont have to participate. I have a HUGE list of things to do here, a full-time job, work on the side to fund some new things for the Forge, and attempting to have a personal life as well. Yes- I'm working a second job for the sole purpose of paying for something for the Forge! If you want to help relieve the pressure, make a donation.
