I'm interested in the other builders' opinions on this issue. I've been thinking about it a lot lately and trying to figure it out.
When I chat with my bots, I really make an effort to forget what i have put in them and just chat without coaxing the answers out of them. This may still happen subconsciously though, because I am able to carry on a really long successful conversation with my bot, but when guests talk to them, they run into problems way faster than I ever do.
It's either the unconcious mind or the fact that my bots are programmed to suit the way I talk and other people just speak in a way I wouldn't think of while in the language center.
Anyway, does anyone else have this problem? Do your conversations with your bots go a little too smoothly?

Not mine, I am actually always dissapointed. I start always with throwing a random song title at him, and then I react to his answer as natural as I can... longest conversation with sense 4 sentences .. could be better

I have similiar problems and I think it is because in a way no matter how hard we try not to we still end up putting in parts of ourselves into the bot(s).

Actually, that's what I've been *trying* to do, make the most realistic bot, based on my personality.

Then there are those glorious moments when the bots chat away to a guest using words you don't remember putting into them.
I know,. this couldbe the result of a faulty memory.

I once had a friend who's father was totally incomprehensible. Of course my friend understood everything he said, but to me it just sounded like noise.

And in my home town way out in eastern Quebec, the locals speak a certain kind dialect of french that people that aren't from the area will have a really hard time figuring out, yet I have no problem with it.

I think our conversations go better with our own bots because we just sort of naturally understand each other in the same way family members will. We each have our own little ways of expressing ourselves and will sometimes catch strangers off guard.

Rex- I know of what you speak. I think in part it is due to love. *flutters eyelashes*

But truly- we want our Bots to succeed, to make sense. We give them the benefit of the doubt, go along with their foibles, understand what was intended. Whereas with another Bot (or in the case of a Guest chatting with a Bot), you draw a much harder line, balk at incorrect sentences, bad reactions.

This can and will be seen when higher level Bots reach the BBS I made. Not knowing a Bot is anything other than a human, a person trying to have a friendly conversation will roll with the punches, accept strange reactions, and play along.

Psybot is awsome! I just read todays transcript and someone thought he was HUMAN! I mean my bot really had him going! Oh it was great! They were talking like humans would and Psybot stayed right with him the whole time, I am impressed with myself.
