AI CONTEST!
===========
I got the following letter today from Chris Cowart, the contest coordinator of the ChatterBox Challenge:
------------------------------------
This is our second year for the ChatterBox Challenge held this year at www.chatterboxchallenge.com The contest brings together chatbot enthusiast from all over the world in some fun and friendly competition The last contest had 48 bots participating. I invite you to check out the site and consider participating. There is no entry fee and the contest has quickly become an excellent way for Bot owners to promote their creative efforts. Next years contest is offering over $2,000 in money and prizes.
------------------------------------
I welcome everyone to enter this contest. Go to the web site for details and to register. You can use your Link URL from the "Link" in "My Bots" to enter. We've got a few months to work on our Bots before the contest begins. I'll be trying to get more details and will post them when I get them.

More details on the ChatterBox Challenge:
First of all, please post here if you'll be entering the contest. The judges will come to your link page to chat with your Bot.
Q: How many judges will there be? Will each Bot speak to each judge?
A: Agentland the sponsor is handling the judges. The group (The bot owners participating) would like at least 10 judges with a mixture from the general public as well as people with AI or computer backgrounds.
Q: Will each Bot speak to each judge?
A: Unfortunately not. We are expecting over 40+ bots to participate and this is simply not workable. Several judges will be obtaining the logged conversations and the 10 question scores but the majority of the judges will be only reading the logged conversation until we narrow the field down a bit. The idea is 10 Bots will be selected based on their 10 question score and the logged conversation. 5 of those will move on to the finals. At this point 5 is a workable number and each judge then will be able to talk to each Bot personally.
Q: Can the voters be anybody? Will it be possible for someone to get all their friends to vote for their Bot and win that way (not that I want to, but I'd like that not to be a factor).
A: This is actually our third attempt at the online voting. What we have found is there is simply not a practical system out there to prevent what you are referring to. ISP addresses change and cookies can easily be deleted. We are still exploring better ways for visitors to participate but I can ensure you that the contest will not turn into a popularity contest.
